do you have aka Projects in grocery sacks. I just counted mine here under my bed in our RV ( my quilting cupboard). I have six there. Lost count of the ones at home. New to me is FARTs Fabric Aquiring Road Trips.

mom2suki 02-05-2011 02:31 PM

Oh my gosh!!! I love this. I didn't realize I had so many PIGS around the house!!!!

rusty quilter 02-05-2011 03:11 PM

How funny! I don't have any right now, but that is not to say it hasn't happened in the past :D

MaryStoaks 02-05-2011 03:12 PM

I didn't used to have any but lately I've accumulated 4.

featherweight 02-05-2011 03:13 PM

That is funny. When we went to AZ for 5 months last winter. I had the underbed storage FULL and when I got ready to quilt. Guess what? I didn't have the fabric that I needed so had to go buy more anyway. Go figure...

Scissor Queen 02-05-2011 03:14 PM

I don't put my projects in grocery bags. It's the cheapest plastic there is and paper bags are just as bad if not worse.

I call mine ladies in waiting and they're in Art Bins. There are 7 in the bins.

Lostn51 02-05-2011 03:15 PM

Honestly I took a bath last week!!

I dont put min in a paper sack but I fold them and slip them into a drawer in my bedroom. But that is a cute acronym!!

Depends on if your counting the PIGS I got in my freezer. I have Pig Chops, Pig Bacon, Pig Sausage, Pig ham.
Now as for the PIGS of sewing...I have one or two sort of. I have 1/4 triangles cut for I'm not sure. I think mainly because I saw how to sew 2 fabrics together and sew all the way around it and then cut it into 4 pieces and I wanted to try it.
Then I have a bento box that I do not like the colors of but I do have one huge block of it done. I put it away for a later day. But thats all I got.

Lori S 02-05-2011 04:21 PM

I have many PIB's..... Projects in boxes...

My PIBs are "projects in baggies".

But it's that FARTs I'm giggling over; it is WAY too appropriate for the group I run with, gotta share it with them!

I used to sell S.E.X. at my shop. Yep, in sealed, plain, brown paper bags for $5. Very popular, some customers just could not get enough, it was like gambling to them!

I am with you Amma. Have many projects planned and put in baggies waiting their turn.

sewingsuz 02-05-2011 05:53 PM

I save those clear zipper bags that sheets on pillowcases or that stuff comes in and I use those or baggies so I can see what is in there, what the pigs look like. Cute

Shelbie 02-05-2011 05:53 PM

It all depends on how you define a pig. I have two huge bins of completed tops just waiting to be quilted. Then I have many (more then a dozen) sets of completed blocks waiting to be stitched into a top. I keep these in separate boxes with the pattern and any extra material for sashing.I also have some boxes with just a few completed blocks. As for the total number, I've never really counted but I bet I wouldn't be far off 100 if I included every single one that has anything cut or stitched. This didn't happen overnight. I have now been sewing for almost 50 years which seems impossible for me to believe.

Yes, but are they PIGS, PROJECTS IN GROCERY SACKS?????
Or are they PIB's, PROJECTS IN BOXES!!!

BETTY62 02-05-2011 06:30 PM

Yes, my front bedroom looks like a pen of PIGS.

mrspete 02-05-2011 06:59 PM

aahhmmmmmm, well, I had to buy another tote to hide them in and it is full. Still a few hanging around, but not all quilting. Jan in Va, I love the S.E.X. that is cute, too. These gals ya gotta love 'um !

Blessings, Ruth

sewgull 02-05-2011 07:11 PM

PIGS, I have an entire litter of the cuties. Found another two today.

Janet My 02-06-2011 05:45 AM

I have 2 that I can think of..... a very small, potholder project, and my bargello quilt that I purchased fabric for and it keeps getting side tracked with other things. I'm not going to start these however till I finished my UFO's that I promised to do.

Shari1967 02-06-2011 05:46 AM

I have about 4 of those :) I try to keep it at a minimum.

Hen3rietta 02-06-2011 05:59 AM

My PIGS like to play hide and seek. I know I have a litter of them but they've all scattered and I have to round them up again. LOL

quilt3311 02-06-2011 06:50 AM

I have PIPB's "projects in pizza boxes". I put some acid free tissue paper inside the box, the project and top it with another piece of acid free tissue. The boxes usually cost anywhere from 25 - 50- cents at our local pizza place. Don't use if they have been used for pizza, as there is usually a bit of yuck from the pizzas soaked into the boxes.

tryitall 02-06-2011 06:57 AM

One in sack. Since last Sept. I have been on 3 FARTs. Love them!!!

craftymatt2 02-06-2011 07:01 AM

OK, i need to add my 2 cents, I understand PIGS, but what about stuff you buy and you're in a hurry to hide so DH can't find, I have soooo much stuff i bought over the years and i would say somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 is still in hiding. Does that make me a hoarder??? OH MY I am in trouble. I need to find me a good name.

Dianne1 02-06-2011 07:38 AM

Here pig, pig, pig. I checked it out and I could give Smithfield farms a run for their money.

petpainter 02-06-2011 07:47 AM

Boy, I just finished my first topper and am ready to quilt it myself, and I can think of at least 10 Pigs of off the top of my head! Hopefully that will slow down when I become experienced- yeah, I know- good luck with that!

true4uca 02-06-2011 07:48 AM

Jan in Va gotta love the SEX one. Instead of hoarder how about FQ Fabric Queen. LOL.

grammy Dwynn 02-06-2011 08:03 AM

my understanding of acronyms;

PIGS ~ projects that I intend to do, pattern & fabrics waiting together in the sack/bag/tote (Projects In Grocery Sacks)

UFO ~ projects that have been started, but have been way-laid for a long time. (Unfinished objects)

PHD ~ projects that I am working on, but gets put aside, to work on another (or two) projects, then it comes back to the front. (Projects Half Done)

I have all the above

CarrieAnne 02-06-2011 08:08 AM

yep! Too many!

OneMoreQuilt 02-06-2011 08:16 AM

Can't comment, too busy ROFL!!!

Ardelle Coult 02-06-2011 08:34 AM

It is really nice to know that I am not alone!!

Fabricnut 02-06-2011 08:47 AM

The corner in my living room is full of PIBS not PIGS and plastic storage bins. I have to clean/straighten it up every time the little kids might show up. Too many things for 3 years olds to investigate.

seamstome 02-06-2011 08:47 AM

I have about 6 ot 7. They are actually in bins not grocery sacks but same concept. Everything or almost everything is together waiting for me. This is different in my mind from patterns that I want to do but have not purchased fabric for.

maryb119 02-06-2011 08:55 AM

Do I hafta count them?

I agree. I am thinking here of projects that I put into "kits" and are ready to go. If we add to that all the patterns I want to do, well, let's not go there.

You are too funny.

adrianlee 02-06-2011 10:47 AM

PIGS! Wow! I have P-boxes. Pizza boxes hold my projects. Big pizza boxes and the small one-slice boxes.

tntgranny 02-06-2011 10:47 AM

I have PIPS - projects in plastic. Either zip-lok bags, plastic scrapbooking organizers. Also projects in "photo storage boxes" - guess those are PIBS. Sometimes I get the bug to do a lot of cutting - will cut 2 or 3 complete kits and have them ready for when I get the bug to sew. Years ago before I was a quilter I was a stitcher - needlepoint, cross stitch. My girlfriend and I had a pact that when either of us died the other would go and clear out all the closets and underbed storage so our husbands would not know how much "stash" we had. A knit shop owner recently told me of a request by the husband of her deceased friend to come in and check her stash - she had boxes and boxes and boxes of yarn sorted with the pattern, needles sizes she would need and any other notions (markers, stitch holders, etc.) all in plastic bags, tote bags, reusable grocery bags. She had over 100 projects ready to go. Makes me feel a little better - I'm not quite that bad
