My closest quilt store is about 35 miles of heavy traffic. A Wal Mart 25 miles away has some fabric. All the ones near do not. Hancock is a good hour at the right time of the day (impossible during heavy traffic) and 17 miles to a lousy Hobby lobby. Doesn't slow me down though. I buy in quantity when I travel and order from the net. Most of the shops are going with the economy. I know of four that have closed in the recent past. Thank goodness I have a stash.

There are three 25 miles away and five (not including JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby) between 20-25 miles the opposite direction. It's probably just as well they're not closer or I'd spend my entire food budget on fabric. Got to get it before the price doubles or triples as fore-warned. Prices are already beginning to climb. :(

Nearest place is approx 600 airmiles away...everything I buy is online...and I mean everything!!!

Try half a world away! Luckily, I have a great street that sells cottons and other stuff about 45 minutes away with traffic.

I am a mile from a Hobby Lobby, five miles from my LQS, four miles from the LQS I don't visit, 90 miles south of Sioux Falls quilt shops and 125 miles north of Omaha quilt shops. There is a fabric outlet store about 40 miles away that I go to infrequently.....overspend when I visit that store.

I have the local Walmart/w. fabric. But, 45 miles south there is a nice quilt shop. 45 miles north a JoAnn's that is okay, but not as good as it use to be. But, 90miles north there is a to-die-for quilt shop. Worth the travel. And of course 150miles north-then east is Lancaster, PA with lots of shopping.

I have 6 stores within a 20 minute drive. I also have 2 JoAnn's within that distance. We are very lucky, the stores are great they were recently featured in a quilt magazine.

We have one shop here in town. Believe the next closest thing is in Sparta, 30 minutes away from here, but I haven't been to that quilt shop. Sometimes when I go to La Crosse or Eau Claire (both an hour away) I'll hit up their Hancock's.

What I would describe as a real quilt shop? None.

LQS the closest is 38 miles. There is a Walmart in one of those towns with fabric also. To go to Joann's or Hobby Lobby I have to travel about 60 miles.
