10 mile to Joanns and Hancock. Twenty miles to the LQS and 120 miles to the nearest real city where they have real quilt stores.

I have 1 fabric store 10 mi away that specialized in heirloom sewing. There is an upholstry outlet that carries some cotton dress remnants, have to pick through. Other than that I can go 45 mi in one direction for a Hancock Fabrics or 45 mi in the other direction for 3 LQSs, another Hancock Fabrics and a Walmart with fabric.

Here in Bakersfield, CA we have four nice locally owned quilt shops: Strawberry Patches, To Quilt-N-Sew, Quilters Haven and a new one called Bolts to Binding... Besides that we have Hancock's, Beverly's, JoAnn's, and F&M fabrics. We are very fortunate to have such quality within a minimum driving time.

OMG I am really lucky...I have a quilt shop approx. 2 miles from my house..Our Walmart doesn't have fabric anymore. We have all these quilt shops right around our town. "My Favorite Quilt Shop", "Life's a Stitch", "Quilters Connection", "Silver Thimble" and JoAnn's and Hancock fabrics.. You know where I spend all my free time....

Zero.....1 1/2 hours away from any quilt store....our WalMart has some fabric, they are cutting back on fabric/crafts and sewing notions. I do most of my buying on line for batting, notions, thread, etc. Even tho I have to pay shipping, it is still cheaper than the gas it would take to go miles and miles to a fabric store. I chose to live in a small town rual area, so I have to roll with the punches, so to speak. I love living in the country...peaseful and quiet.

Don't know where the nearest quilt shop is. There was one that was about an hour and 45mins away but it is closing the last of this month. There is a tiny little fabric store that has a few nice cottons but I don't think they have enough of a selection to design a whole quilt. When I visit the kids there is a nice quilt shop, Joannes, Hancocks and Hob Lob. I'm not so good when I'm there.

It is 20 miles to the two closest LQS, 42 miles to the closest Joann's. There is a Hancock's about 38 miles away but it is kind of a dingy store, so I don't go there often. There is a Joann's going in about 25 miles from me, so that will be nice. And, today, I found out that the Walmart near me 15 miles will not be closing their fabric section for the foreseeable future. I got some really pretty cottons there today. When I get them out of the dryer and ironed I will post pictures.
