I have a bin of each colour plus others (ie thirties, batiks, children's etc.) This week I did a re-organizing and culled a huge bag to donate to the Mennonite Relief Centre for their charity quilts. I have been collecting fabric since I was nine and much of my collection was given to me or purchased very reasonably at rummage, estate and clear out sales. My goal is now to finish a whole bunch of UFO's (didn't count those either) and only use fabric from my stash to do so. I now only buy fabric if there is absolutely nothing that will work in my collection.

I think you should keep track of how many quilts you make from your stash - with that much yardage you must have some great fabric choices

I don't have a lot fabric in my stash right now. I had more a couple of weeks ago. I inherited a lot of fabric. Most of it was not really my style. I shifted and shifted the fabric because I was thinking some day I can make something with it. One Sunday I was looking for a matching piece in my stash and couldn't find anything. So a least the half of the fabric flew out of my closet into a huge bag that went to the quilting group of a local senior center. The bag was very welcomed and I have more space to fill with fabric I really like :-D :-D :-D

I think it's "over the top."

Why do you think that? I have personally used at least that much fabric since I started quilting. I don't take orders from friends or family and I don't have customers and I don't quilt for charity.

At this point I'm not real sure how many yards of fabric I have but my guess would be around 1000.

Maybe one day when I'm bored I'll count.

I think I have more than that purchased to "build my stash" and driven to the store by DH...so it wasn't originally my idea...ha.

I don't have orders from friends or customers but I do have friends and charities who will soon be tired of getting "another" quilt from me...

:-D :P :-P So, my answer is probably Nope...not OTT for me. HA!

I have no idea how much I have -- I know it is spilling off my shelves and out of my closet in my sewing room, also in closet of guest bedroom and in bins in the garage. AND I can't stop buyng when I see a good bargain. I need fabricaholics.
