I have to admit that I never took count of them!
|
I have been quilting for 30 years and have made hundreds. I sure do wish I had thought to keep a quilting journal all those years ago.
I quilt my own...both hand quilting and FMQing on my vintage Bernina. I have never sent one elsewhere...until now. A friend of mine is longarming a full size quilt for me and I'm piecing a twin size top for her. The barter system...gotta love it! |

I forgot to ask along with how many quilts you have made, how long have you been quilting,
and do you send yours to a longarm quilter, do you hand quilt, or do you machine quilt it yourself? Looking forward to all of your answers. Love talking to fellow quilters. |
I have around 120 quilts on my finished or almost finished list and I've been quilting since 1999. But I've moved 4 times since then and each move caused a disruption of about 3 to 4 months in my quilt time. The last two moves were only 9 months apart and really disrupted my quilt time since I knew we'd be moving again and most of my sewing room stayed packed.
I quilt some of them and some of them I've sent out. |
i've lost count :)

I've made hundreds....when I first started around 1993 I kept track of each & every one with a picture & a description..... our guild made preemie quilts at 36 x 36 " and it was such a worthwhile cause I made at least one a month.....now my house is full; I donate quilts to the guild...... give each & every baby who happens along a quilt..... my DD's friends.... my neighbours... I LOVE to quilt! Stopped counting .... can you imagine an accountant stopping the count? I guess the only reason I am able to keep quilting is that I do some by hand.... some by paper piecing...some my machine at home.... but always the total quilt is made by me. I admire professional quilting but it's not what brought me to quilting, nor is it what keeps me quilting. This is me.... not you.... do what works for you & enjoy every minute....

I would guess 35 lap to kings and if you count quilted items like wall hangings table runners. Etc then. 100 or so. Started. In 93 then quit quilting for ten years and restarted ob 2008. Machine or LA

Funny that you ask. I just took my Brother in law to the quilt warehouse where I store the almost 250 quilts I've made and use for lectures, and . . . (quilting 30 years). He didn't seem to think his wife needed to make any more quilts. She only has about 15 of the 30 she has made. I told him quilting is my therapy.
Can you guess I love to quilt? I use my own longarm now but for a time I hand quilted, used my own domestic and sent a few big ones out. If I weren't making them for books, classes and lectures then I'd probably slow down and handquilt more. |
I started quilting in 1976... I lost track.
