A friend (non-quilter) makes fun of me and completely doesn't understand why anyone would start a project and not finish it. (I'm not an over achiever like her. tee hee). Anyway, I have 3 projects in progress and 6 aging UFO's and 1 project that I have all the fabric for, but haven't started yet.

how about you??? please tell me I'm not alone.

isnthatodd 02-17-2010 01:43 PM

I can't count that high, and I'm a math teacher :!:

beachlady 02-17-2010 01:44 PM

Too many - more than you!

sdparent 02-17-2010 01:51 PM

Only 2 at the moment, but as we all know that can change quickly.

k3n 02-17-2010 01:52 PM

I don't have any UFOs AT ALL!!!

I do on the other hand have too many WIPs to count!

ah-come on.. how many? tee hee

tkhooper 02-17-2010 01:56 PM

I was doing good until today. I know have some of the supplies for two projects that will have to come after I finish the one I am currently working on.

k3n 02-17-2010 01:57 PM

Well if I live long enough, they'll all get finished someday so they're WIPs. I refuse to call them UFOs - the power of positive thinking! Although, some of them have been WIPs for so long now I can't even remember where they are!

Jim's Gem 02-17-2010 01:58 PM

Too many to count at the moment. Probably over 20 something.

Candace 02-17-2010 02:03 PM

Um, I'll just go with several.

Crlyn 02-17-2010 02:03 PM

Now that you have asked the question it's made me think about it..........I have 4!!!

watterstide 02-17-2010 02:05 PM

how high can you count!

Sharon321 02-17-2010 02:18 PM

I am afraid to look.

cjaye44 02-17-2010 02:28 PM

I thought I was doing pretty good with just 10. That was before I found a large bag full that got misplaced in my last move..which was two years ago! They're like brand new again.

Bobbinwinder 02-17-2010 02:29 PM

There's just a limit to what a girl ought to have to admit...and if an accurate count is required, then the limit has been reached...I'll just smile and say "not too many to exceed my comfort level". If we're including planned projects....far too many for my life expectancy!

Gramakitten 02-17-2010 02:34 PM

I have enough to retire happy. I would never have to buy another thing and could never finish or use all fabric that I have. lol

Ninnie 02-17-2010 02:37 PM

4 that I am working on, and I don't know how many are out of site , out of mind  I think i should gift wrap them, and give them as Christmas presents this year :-D :-D :-D

barnbum 02-17-2010 03:15 PM

None. I've finished everything I've started. Seriously. I have orphan blocks to do something with (doll quilts), but I was told that didn't count. My sewing room is too small to store UFOs.

rivka 02-17-2010 03:19 PM

I have one work in progress. I don't allow myself to start a new project unless I finish the one I'm working on!

sewingladydi 02-17-2010 03:21 PM

More than a half a dozen-Don't want to think to hard about it!

I used to be able to say that before I began quilting last November.

And please don't say planned projects count or I'm a dead woman.
;-)

ToucanSam 02-17-2010 03:26 PM

I have 4, and won't start another until at least one of these is finished.

saf45 02-17-2010 03:27 PM

i also have many ufos, and every time i think i will pull one out and work on it .i find a new pattern i just have to try, so the ufo has to go back on shelf.
happy quilting

Bailey's mom 02-17-2010 03:31 PM

I like this response. I don't want to count them, I could totally embarass myself.
I need to stick to my resolution of not buying fabric unless it is for backing and even then I probably have it.

prezzy 02-17-2010 03:50 PM

I was never good at math lol

retired teacher 02-17-2010 03:51 PM

What do you call UFOs whose fabrics have been redirected into different quilts?

Bobbinwinder 02-17-2010 03:54 PM

First thing that came to mind...stepchildren! lol

DeniseB 02-17-2010 04:04 PM

OK, is a UFO a project/quilt that is still in pieces? Not made into a top ready to quilt? I currently have two projects that fit that catagory, BUT quilt tops I have 11, this is the stage I tend to look away and start something new. But since I am home I plan to start getting to the quilting part with my Lil Gracie frame and Bernina QE440.

Projects/kits I have at least 20 and with that figure I think I am in denial. And just yesterday I wanted to order some bali pops for a beautiful quilt I saw on here called Cappuccino Squares or Boxes, can't remember, am trying to forget. My DD thankfully convinced me I had enough to keep me busy for a long time. Bless her for setting me straight.

pittsburgpam 02-17-2010 04:08 PM

If finished tops that aren't quilted yet count as UFOs, then I have 15 or so. I do plan on getting them done this year (if new ones don't keep getting in the way).

QuiltingGrannie 02-17-2010 04:11 PM

When is it considered a UFO vs a WIP vs fabric in waiting to be cut to start a quilt that you already have a pattern for and know what they will become?

I have one quilt top just finished ready to be sandwiched and quilted

I have three fabric collections waiting to be cut into pieces to make quilts - patterned known.

And two quilts in my head that need to be completed by Christmas 2010 but still need the pattern AND fabric.

Kyiav10 02-17-2010 04:15 PM

I joined the UFO challenge on the stashbuster site in Yahoo groups. This is helping me to finish them up. The list is going through fast, but it is good for me. I hope to finish at least 4 or 5 this year. Since I hand quilt it takes me a while.

yourstrulyquilts 02-17-2010 04:24 PM

Near 50. I did give some away and haven't counted recently, but I'll try to get a ball park figure...........
YTQ

zennia 02-17-2010 04:41 PM

Many, many, many. But I am being good. I promised myself I would not get in any swaps this year. So far so good. I love the challenge of a swap but then never do anything with the blocks.

yourstrulyquilts 02-17-2010 04:46 PM

I just counted.
Lap/baby size 8
twin 7
double 19
Queen 4
WIP 9
Total 47

WIP for me is the blocks are done, but haven't sewn them into a top yet.
The other sizes are all tops, with the backing done and the binding cut.
I have 6 that are sandwiched and ready to quilt, and one needs to get the binding sewn down (tonight)

Besides that, not much goin' on!

thequilterslink 02-17-2010 04:50 PM

LOL, well i counted them a few years ago and i had over 80, i have finished a lot since then and started a few more, so it is probably about the same, but it doesnt' bother me, i had fun either cutting them out, sewing them, picking the fabric and pattern or just thinking about it. Maybe i will get them done someday and maybe i won't. :)

NorBanaquilts 02-17-2010 04:54 PM

I can't count that high either and I'm an accountant

that's how I feel too. My daughters can worry about what to do with all of mom's "stuff"! LOL I just wanna enjoy the process .
The upside is that if I need a quilt for a gift, it doesn't take so long to get one produced.

brushandthimble 02-17-2010 05:06 PM

I counted over 50 the first of the year, that includes tops waiting to be quilted. I joined the UFO challange on this board, and have completed 3 and working on 2 I hope to have completed by the end of Feb. Started and completed other stuff in between.
