I like to recycle things when I can and hubby used to object. However, he takes Insulin twice a day and they are the perfect size to store the used needles. Once it is full, he can safely dispose of the used needles. I'm sure you and others will find hundreds of other uses.

what about a spare key container or for keeping sunglasses from scratching?

ooh, you know what else?
you could cover the outside w/ fabric & make pretty little flower vases.....or who knows what-----toothbrush holders, pencil/pen holders.......yada yada yada..........

I keep one by my sewing machine to hold my sewing glasses. Have been thinking of a way to line it with something soft but it doesn't really need a liner. All these suggestions are good and would be useful. Thanks.

the labels peel off to leave a plain container you can mark what is in it or get fancy and decorate the outside. the cystal light conatiner are like that too but more oval.I use them to store my rotary cutters in. i put in a quilted piece if material inside. also good for my little scissors or a small sewing kit if i take a project with me. and of course the ideas that they have mentioned are good.

Freeze them with water or juice to have "big blocks" that won't melt so fast when you put them in a pitcher.

Cover them with pretty fabric (elastic at top) and put potpourri in them.

Store tea bags...those flimsy boxes will be gone then

All great ideas!

Cereal!!! My kids keep leaving the boxes open or chips the bags never keep them fresh!!!

we saved some and used them for flowers from our garden when we share. no waste or worry about returning the vase.

I would cut them to different heights and glue them together. Put it on my sewing table and put rulers, pens, markers, and all kinds of sewing things in it.

luckylindy333 06-27-2011 07:35 PM

How about rolled up stabilizer or fusible? Or anything that comes in a roll, ribbon, trim, etc? You could cut a little slit in the top for the end of the ribbon to show and have a dispenser... It might work for any narrow wrapping paper, too.

milikaa1 06-27-2011 08:13 PM

Maybe a sharps container for all the old rotary blades and used needles.

judyyoungs 06-27-2011 08:13 PM

My hubby takes them to his garage. Says he can really use them for nails, nuts, bolts, etc. I'm not sure because I never see them again.. But there are other good ideas here also.

I just gave some to my sister-in-law over the weekend. She makes jewelery and I think she was going to store some of her beads in them. I just hate to throw things like this away when I know someone could use them.

How about storing Q-tips in them??

tarbender30 06-28-2011 07:28 AM

I would put my paint brushes in them. Also my knitting needles, rulers, pipe cleaners, those zip ties would work perfect for them. I have tried Crystal Lite before but didn't much care of it, but I might have to get some, just for the containers. lol

everything comes in plastic containers today. the containers take up more space than the stuff i would put into them.

i would recycle them.

Wow a lot of great ideas. I love the ice log. I use something similar to keep my paper lint roller in.

meemersmom 06-28-2011 02:36 PM

I covered them in fabric and filled w/ needles, thread, pins, and a couple of buttons and gave out the mini emergency sewing kits as add-on gifts for my sewing group. They're perfect for the desk drawer in the office. I am making a GFG, and its the perfect size for the EPP shapes, fabrics, etc., I need. I keep in my purse, so I always have a project on hand to work if I find myself with spare time. I have one on the shelf for used blades, needles, and bent pins. One of the brands container is also large enough for a 45mm rotary cutter, and it keeps it from rubbing against (and accidentally cutting!!) my projects in my "to go" bag for guild events and sew gatherings. I could go on and on and on.....

I taped 3 containers together and have them on a shelf behind my sewing machines. They hold pens, rulers. tape measurers and misc items. They are great for knitting or crochet items too.
I have a whole shelf full with all kinds of sewing items.
They are just great!

I love these containers, how often can you ever find a neat storage container that doesn't require glue removed from a label? This label peels right off. My husband keeps the containers in the garage to store screw, bolts, bits etc. It could be used to store fertilizer pallets or any small amount of gardening chemicals, except liquids. I feel liquids would leak out, but I haven't tested that. I plan to use it for small sewing tools.

Marvel 07-05-2011 11:13 PM

I keep recycled containers by my sewing machine. Some have corored pens. ,some I keep small pieces in. The fun is haveing a reuse for the containers.
