How many of you send out your quilts to a LA quilter vs. quilting your own, be it hand quilting, tying, or machine free hand?

I have to confess that I like the piecing part better than the quilting... But sending it out isn't really an option (no LA anywhere near where I live) and I don't have a sewing machine, so I hand-piece and hand-quilt everything. I'm currently quilting my second big quilt and it does seem to go faster than the first one! Guess all those baby quilts have given me some practice...

I sent out 2 really big ones before I bought my used HQ16. I did dozens on my Janome 6600. I did one queen sized on the Janome and said never again. I hunted for 2 years for a used HQ that I could afford. Now I crank out MANY charity quilts done on my beloved HQ.
If I did a special quilt intended for a show, I would send it out to a talented LA. I am not that great on my HQ for a show type quilt. |
I send mine out...

I do my own quilting. I have a dsm with a 9 inch harp. That's helps, but I've never done anything huge. I will be fmqing a queen sized quilt my mom pieced and we ar going to do a "split the batting" technique. Hope I can work it all out...
