I've seen 35 for large quilts maybe 25 for small

I have tried machine sewing the binding with no luck. Whats your secret?

Silver Needle 02-22-2012 08:19 PM

I charge $.25 per linear inch because I love to do it. I like charging by the inch then there is no question on price.

I charge either 13 cents or 15 cents per inch depending on whether it is a straight edge or a curved edge. I feel that that is the fairest way. So far I haven't had anyone complain.

Well, you can see the range varies quite a bit. Guess it depends on how it's being done. Front by machine, back by hand; Front and back by machine. You do part and I do part... (There's the trimming too.) Is the binding prepared and ready to be attached or will you be preparing the binding too. You'll get it worked out.

As of a couple of years ago, my LAQ charged $35.00 to machine stitch the binding to the front, and hand sew to the back. Actually, I think she did the machine stitching, and farmed out the hand sewing.

I pay half the price of the quilting from my LAQ for sewing on the binding and then hand stitching

If I get a quilt with the binding already sewn to the front and seam cut to 1/4", then I charge a flat $50 for the hand sewing. Sometimes I think I make quilts just to get to the hand-sewing of the binding because I love to do it.
