Sounds just like me. I do the same thing but not with quilt backs. I do this with layering quilts to FMQ. FMQ isn't my favorite part of the process but I HATE layering them. I will avoid it for days ( sometimes weeks). Even to the point of not going into my sewing room the quilt staring at me is bothering me so much. I guess I am just a crazy quilter.

If you really really don't want to make the back, come on over...I'll sew your back if you clean my kitchen, LOL!

I have to tell ya, while reading I kept wondering why so many ppl hated doing the back.
I've had family members complain about a food or medicine until I hated putting it in my mouth after that. Silly mouse, but I was wondering, "oh no...is this gonna rub off too?" Then I got that link for those yummy backing fabrics. Nope...not gonna be a hater :D |
I look forward to doing the backs. To me it is like making a very big quilt block. It reminds me of making drawstring skirts that were a local fad back in the early 60's.

gmta...i think of it as making a big quilt block too. Putting on the backing means accomplishment to me. I feel energized by "the coming together". I think part of what we're hearing is how cumbersome some of it can be if you don't have enough room or enough support for such large pieces. I think every quilter should make it just as easy on themselves as their pocketbook will allow. This is supposed to be FUN  |
