I've been making these for years and have always used scraps of polyester batting. I use mine weekly and have never had any problem with the poly batting. I did buy some of the new batting, though, and will try that next time.

By cooking the potato in the bag, it cooks up fluffier and the sink doesn't get hard & dry.

Why wouldn't a cotton terry towel work to wrap the 'taters in?...should give you the same benefits and is easy to wash and use as a towel when you want to...think multi-purpose.

I've been selling my potato bags for years for $8.00 ea, time to raise the price. I love them for corn on the cob too.

these are bags made out of cotton for cooking potatoes in the microwave. everything has to be 100% cotton - material, batting, thread. you can also use it for corn or dinner rolls[/quote]

Can you tell me what is the advantage of using a potato bag in the microwave? Do they cook faster? Never heard of such a bag. Why not ask your friend what she paid for the one she has and then decide if you can make one at that price.
