Is that normal to pay? I didn't even pay that for the White.

Plus, I'm fanatical about cleaning my machines and oiling them.

I wouldn't want to know what this place (an hour drive for me) would charge for my older machines.

So, what do you all pay? Did I pay way too much?

ouch...
$89.00 last time.

My last servicing for my Viking Sapphire was $150, my serger was $120.

I just took in my Bernina 180. It was $105 for general cleaning.
Another store in the area would have charged 59 or 85 for it, but they are a new dealer and he doesn't know this older machine. I'm selling it so wanted a really good inspection.

I bought my Bernina 630E used about a year ago so I have no idea when it needs serviced. I do know it had been checked, cleaned, etc. right before I bought it. Sounds like I don't need to have anything done unless it starts acting up. Do most of you use the little vacuum attachment to clean or just a brush?

It cost me $95 for my Bernina 830 in Aug.

I drive to Ken's Sewing in Muscle Shoals (145 miles each way) to have mine serviced. Their charges depend on the type of machine. Was quoted $89 for my Ellisimo and my friends took their 6500's in. One was $59 and the other that require some more work was $75.

I think you were brutalized!

My last trip was $149 with $10 off on my od machine (Janome 6500). This is just cleaning -- no parts.

My LQS charges $59.95, but I had my Elna done when they ran a $29.95 special. The others I do myself. My Elna will go to a retired repairman who has soft spot for Elnas next time. I didn't know he was still working or she'd not have gone to the LQS.

$350 is a ridiculous amount. Most machines do not need yearly servicing anyway. There is another recent thread on yearly servicing that you might want to check out.

Unless there is something wrong with the machine, IMO there's no need to take it in for servicing -- ever! I do think that machine owners who never clean out the bobbin area or the lint from the feed dogs need to take their machines in for yearly maintenance; not the rest of us.

Years ago, when I used to take my Bernina 1230 in for servicing, it was about $125. I'm convinced this was basically for nothing.

mine go every 2 or 3 years..maybe. i keep them really clean and oil them..
