You learn something new every day. Thanks for all the great advice and input...the best advice is always read your manual and if you can't find the information you are looking for, Do nothing and ...call the sewing machine dealer where you bought your machine or call the 1-800 of number of the maker of your machine.

They will give you the advice or information that you are looking for. That is the best way to go.!!

I have a Janome 6500 and my dealer told me the same thing. Just a drop of oil in the wick area of the bobbin once in a while. I agree about the manual. It is rather lacking. I love my machine though.

I did read on the Yahoo Janome forum to do this, also. I think the advice was whenever it looked dry. Mine gets a little noisy when it needs a drop--probably about every 15 hours of sewing, or thereabouts. I have not been impressed with the Janome manual--fwiw. Love the machine, though
