How often do I need to oil my machine?

I bought my Janome at the end of October and have only oiled it once. I read a thread where someone oils their machine every time they refill the bobbin. How often do I really need to oil it??

TIA.

Ditto....the manual for my machine says definitely NOT oil. Just keep it clean of lint below the throat plate. Plus regular service by a qualified technician should keep it in top notch condition.

I can't find anywhere in my manual that says anything about oiling.

Perhaps a call to the dealer where you purchased your machine?

Yes, I agree about reading your manual...and it is always a good idea to follow the cleaning and oiling instructions
and I use the brush that came with my machine to clean out all the lint and or threads that may be in you bobbin area... I do not think it is necessary to oil each time your finish a project. I would also call you dealer if you have any questions at all on your machine.
I was told by the sewing machine center what I bought my Janome ... I should bring in my Janome sewing machine to my dealer and have it serviced once a year if you do allot of sewing. To keep your machine in good working
condition. A good sewing machine is quite expensive to be replacing it and your machine should last for years.

Your dealer is your best place to get all your questions answered on your machine, besides your manual.

My Janome dealer is great, I will stop in and ask them. I do know I need to have it serviced yearly if not earlier. Mine didn't come with a brush but I did buy one so I could clean out the bobbin area when needed. You all have been a great help thank you so much.

It depends on your machine. Follow your manual or advice of dealer.
