My BFF commented the other night how wealthy the seam ripper manufacturers are. That night I think I ripped every row at least 2 times.

Why doesn't it turn out the way you " envisioned it in your mind". You say you put it on your design wall first. So, you must have been satisfied with how it looked. So, what happened between the design wall and the sewing machine.

I make mistakes all the time but that is okay, I am a master ripper.
|
I have been sewing for 56 years and I still make them.
Have sewed the same seam incorrectly 3 times. |
I think we all make mistakes. I remember a quilting instructor, who has won major awards. saying that she has used sharpies or paints to cover small mistakes she discovered after she was finished.
It took me several tries to finish a block the other day, due to all the half-square triangles in it (first I didn't cut enough, then started sewing them together and realized I'd sewn the wrong sides of the units together -seam ripper time), but it came out wonderfully after all that. Sometimes you have to step back and take a break, regroup, and redo. :) |
Put a rotary cutter in my hand and I'm am going to make a mistake.
No matter how many times I measure twice to cut once I mess up. I just did a quilt top and not one mistake sewing but I'll be darned if my cutting isn't where all the mistakes are. I'm calling my top a wonky triangle top lol. |

It's so nice to know that I'm not alone here!

My seam ripper and I are best friends!

Me, make mistakes? Never! My quilt tops are always spot on. In fact, I threw my seam ripper away. It was always in the way.
Oh, darn, there's the doorbell again... hang on... Elvis and Johnny Cash are at the door. Probably want to explore my pumpkin patch with the aliens who landed in my back yard this morning. |
