I like it tidy so I pick up regularly. I resort my stash as needed when my granddaughter is here to help.

I tidy up between projects, clean (as in vacuum and dust) when I can't stand it, reorganize or rearrange as needed to make things function better for me. Or when I'm just in a mood to dejunk .

This is what I do as well. I also have to put everything away when we have overnight guests. we only have overnight guests 2 or 3 times a year. Our guest room is my sewing room.

I try to do it as I go along. Find a place for something -- stack fabric neater, throw away scraps of paper with hen scratches

I try to put away my scraps (into the right color bins) when I finish cutting and put the "too big to be scraps" back into the armoire. The rulers go back in place when not in use, and cutting tools in their drawer. But the crazy quilt fabrics (velvet, silk, organza, lace, you name it) are piled in a basket and so are stabilizers, interfacing, etc. There is a stack of batiks hoping to become an Amazon Star someday. Try to vacuum twice a week or so, and dust weekly. Emphasize try. Reorganize? No way. Not unless we move again.

I'm another in the when it gets overwhelming camp. That may be at any point in time. Usually some is ongoing, but after a couple of years or so I will need to do something major. Think I'm at least a year overdue right now. Lol!

Yes I have a large stash, and lots of extras, and this does not mean my imaginary 2 bedroom apartment doesn't have very large rooms and is packed to the ceiling. Every year I get rid of a little bit more, and find lots I thought lost. My goal this year was to get back into just 2 rooms ad still be able to find everything. I DID IT!!!!

i pictured you in there with a firehose washing everything away! made me laugh, but all the while thinking 'what a good idea!"

I reorganize every 20 years whether it needs it or not!! hahahahaha!!!! Ok Seriously... It does need it and I make a fairly honest attempt, um, occasionally....
