Here's a small wall quilt 27"x27" that I'm making for my husband for his birthday. I'm having trouble, as usual, figuring out how to quilt this. Do you talented, creative people have any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciate! Thanks!

The pattern is from Block Party Studios, Inc. and was a kit that I purchased at a national quilt show several several several years ago, but I bet they still have some. There was one in red and black that is really cute!

I made a huge dog quilt for my s-i-l a few years back and I quilted little doggy feetprints and dog bones all over the thing. She loved it!

I have a great pantograph that has dog paws, fire hydrants, and dog bones. Send me a pm if you want the name of the company it's from.

quiltin the ditch around the blocks and squares within the blocks. The dog border is too busy to see much quilting so I would do grid to stabilize the border. The fabric makes the quilt. Just need quilt to stabilize it all.

thanks everyone for your comments and ideas.....I know what I am going to do now.

Someone had this quilt in black and red? over the balcony of their sewing room? It was in pictures and the title was something like..."i thought I'd show a picture of my sewing room...? If you can find the post, it might give you some ideas. It was from the last couple of days? The other suggestions for quilting are great, if you can't find it.

The post is "Sandy's sewing room" and it is in black and white. Maybe Sandy will say how she quilted hers. I remember thinking... "really cute quilt."

What an adorable quilt!!! Can’t wait to see a picture after you finish quilting it.

I made a wallhanging of different sized squares showing all kinds of embroidery appliqued on black cotton, I machine sewed around the outside of each square and then along the border in the ditch.
Also did a couple tee shirt quilts with different sized squares, did that the same way, I wouldn't stitch on the printed squares, just around them.

It's really hard to "quilt" with a mouse!

It's really hard to "quilt" with a mouse! I would do swirls in the border, line dancing around the black blocks and meander in the word blocks.

that is sooo cute!! I know that whatever you decide to do, your DH will love it!

I would SID as well and around the diamond designs in the fabric. The border is open to a variety of patterns of quilting including medium stippling.

I love that quilt! It's so cute!

tlstick 04-23-2011 07:58 AM

Dani 04-23-2011 08:05 AM

You did great!!!! I love this!!! Thank you, thank you for your time on this. Let's hope I can do this now. I'll post it when it's done. Because I couldn't figure out what to quilt this quilt won't be done for his birthday. Oh well, I'm going to give him the quilt already sandwiched and ready to quilt (today).

You could use the swirl from the "if you're happy..." block and use that repeatedly. On the panel print, I could see the doggies outlined. It is real cute!

Holice knows what he is talking about. He is a great quilting designer and teacher! I agree with him.

quiltingnana1 04-23-2011 09:11 PM

Cute quilt. I'd go with paw prints and maybe a few bones, too. Have fun with it!
