Have you thought about cross hatching the picture blocks and doing something different in the sashing? That seems like a lot of work to cross hatch the sashing. Just a thought.

Beautiful quilt! I would do as Becky's Crafts suggested. I see several placed in the large panel where you could quilt around an object or highlight whatever appeals to you.

I love your quilt. I have a similar panel with Bears on it. I am starting on it as soon as I get back from Buffalo. It's for my dad.

With the cross-hatching you want to keep a long seam. The way I would approach it is to mark the hatch pattern and sew it in a zig-zag configuration. Then when you get to the bottom, turn the quilt, travel stitch a bit and repeat the zig-zag. Hope that makes sense.
