I am with mom-6 :thumbup:. What I do is make a layout on the design wall or large surface and walk away for a while...could be an hour or whatever. Then I can see what works and does not work. Looking through the camera viewer does well as a method to see if the layout works. Or use a digital camera; it's been a real help for me several times.

I like the matchy pattern. You can see the x's & o's better. The second one looks more like a scrappy quilt to me. And although I love scrappy, I prefer the 1st.

Like you, I prefer either the first or the last. I guess it depends on whether you want to emphasize the "hugs and kisses" aspect (like for a baby girl's quilt) or just a random, more modern patterning. Both look great!
