If you don't want to use the translucent thread, I would opt for black and use a small narrow zig zag stitch.
|
What about using a varigated primary colors type of thread doing a medium blanket stitch?
|
I like the blue idea but also like the first fabric bringing all the colors together. I also have grandsons that would love this quilt. I too would like to know where to get this pattern.

I usually will change thread color, and match each color to each individual piece, or contrast depending on the look I want. As you all know, this does take quite a bit of time, and starts and stops, tying off all the different threads, etc...debating on "breaking out a bit", and trying something new...A quilty friend suggested using grey thread around all. Just wanting some other opinions...thanks!! K |
I think it would be beautiful if you matched the color to the emplement in each square. If not that - I would vote for black.
|
I would do a blanket stitch by hand with black pearl cotton thread.

I love the truck fabric for the backing and the plaid for the sashing. I also would do a blanket stitch around the trucks in black.
I took a class,,,do blanket stitch around the truck blade (for instance) go as far as you can with that stitch...then switch to a straight stitch so you don't overlap. Then switch back to the blanket stitch until you have completed the all around the truck.. |
Great blocks. I would go with a dark gray thread and the last fabric, the trucks for a border.

a verigated primary color would be nice. I've had great success with it tying in all the colors. Or, if you want more subtle then go with the black as son many have suggested.

Many, many thanks to all of you!! Almost done with all of the applique, then on to the sashing....
