Hi all,
I am fixing to machine applique around all of these, and just wondered how you all would do it? I usually will change thread color, and match each color to each individual piece, or contrast depending on the look I want. As you all know, this does take quite a bit of time, and starts and stops, tying off all the different threads, etc...debating on "breaking out a bit", and trying something new...A quilty friend suggested using grey thread around all. Just wanting some other opinions...thanks!!

There appears to be some black in each block. I would use black and make the stitch a bit smaller. Satin or blanket stitch would both work well here.

I'd probably use black all over line a coloring line.

Are you going to use sashing between the blocks? Sometimes, when I do something like this with sashing, I match the color of the sashing to do the applique. I have also heard to use the background color (in this case - white) as the applique color. I have not done that so can't say what it will look like. Do you have any extra you can experiment with?
It's going to be a darling quilt and I know some little guy will love it!

I'd like black for almost all, with a few changes if needed.

Hi,
Thanks for the compliment...I hope it will be much loved...
Thanks for all of the ideas...yes, I am going to sash it, posted below are the 3 fabrics I am considering, any ideas on those, too?? I really like all the ideas so far, the black thread is one I am leaning towards...besides my old match each part, which really does take so long...thanks again for your ideas, and opinions on the sashing fabric...

I would use black rayon with a small blanket stitch :-)
