How would you Piece this quilt?
 

I am reposting this question again...I used the wrong photo before and it was removed. So here it goes.

Would you make this by making long strips or would you make blocks and sew them together? Or????

I would use long strips and sew in diagonal rows.

I think I would be sewing some blocks together first, then the blocks in diagonal strips.

I'm with clem55. I don't like sewing long narrow rows together - things never seem to stay straight. So I'd make blocks- 4 patches or 16 patches probably, depending on the block size, and then sew those together into rows.

I agree with the long rows. When you cut the triangles for the row ends, make sure that you cut them so the fabric grain is on the outside.
Look for tutorials on setting blocks on point. They will have calculations on how to cut the triangles.

I'd go with this option as well. Have done numerous quilts 'on point' and it's far easier to do the rows I think.

IMHO- if its two tone ( two colors) id cut 4 strips, sew them together cut into 4 patches.. the 'ends' id make last as id oversize the block and trim down..

the only reason id sew sqs to sqs if it was scrappy..

Depending on the width of your strips, I would sew WOF sewing an even number of strips that will be approximately 18" wide. Then sub cut them into long strips. Press your seams towards the red. Keep one strip of each color to fill any gaps. I am doing a table runner with the same design 5 squares across and 20 squares down. Only suggestion I would make is to have all your setting triangles to be the same color. It will make things simpler. Good Luck !!
