beautiful quilt
|
I think an edge to edge design, like a panto with swirls or loops....something to offset the straight lines would be good....just my opinion....very pretty quilt!

That quilt is beautiful.

I like straight lines better than Stipple.. some kind of Geometric in outside larger areas...to match the Triangles..?
|
A same design in each of the blocks, another same design in the setting triangles and a continuous swirl, curl in the sashings........time consuming, many stops/starts, yes, but it will compliment your work

I finished pinning this quilt this afternoon. I am not sure how I would like to quilt it. Any ideas from this great QB? The pattern is called Regimental Stars - Inspired by an Antique Quilt. Red Crinoline Quilts published the pattern. I am considering an all over stipple or stipple just in the star area and then use a stencil in the sashing strips and probably stipple in the setting triangles. What are your thoughts? U could have something thing that that radiates out from the center of each block..then do around the stashed..and then feather or make an easy meander on the tri angles ..

The quilt is so beautifully pieced that I would do all over stippling so as not to detract too much from the piecing. And I have to tell you my 12 yea old son was impressed with your pinball collection. We have two old ones from the 70s. Looks like you are not the only one in the family with a hobby!

I would stitch in the ditch for sashing with X in intersecting squares. For each block, I would stitch around each center 4-patch and then stitch rays from corners and centers of 4patch to sashing. BTW, what are the navy/purple thingies around the outside of the mounted quilt? Are they tension clips?

Hi Sophie 2 -- Please don't allover stipple such a beautiful quilt. I have lots of books with quilting designs that I'd be willing to share. PM me back. I see a place for sashing designs, someone mentioned feathers in the setting triangles, which would be great! I make my own stencils by tracing the design onto template plastic, punching the design with a broken needle in my machine, and swiping it with a chalk powder. SID would be wonderful in the squares, or outlining would work, too. I'm not a great long armer, but I know the wrong quilting and the wrong quilting thread could destroy the beauty of this wonderful quilt.
