I like the antique rake, what a nice idea. Many quilts are diplayed throughout my house by: tabletops, on chairs, on back of couches, over chairs, over beds, and hung with a sleeve and nice curtain rod ( wrought iron ) on my wall. Enjoy the ideas.

Like the idea........oh, the Star quilt is just out of this world...Beautiful, beautiful.
|
Very creative. I really like the border on your Lone Star.
Congrats, Kutnso |
Has anyone tried the magnetic quilt hanger? What did you think?
|
I have one of those hangers too, although a little larger. You don't even have to make a sleeve, which I hate to do anyway. You can change the quilt in the hanger easily too.

Mine are displayed on bed, couch & chairs. I don't have room to hang a quilt in the living room. I do have room in the bedrooms and I do have antiques so the farm tools would work for me. Thanks for the ideas!

I am lucky because my husband does wood working projects and he has made me a beautiful quilt ladder and a wall hanging quilt rack that is in by bedroom above my bed where a quilt my great grandmother made is on. He also had made me a victorian quilt rack that is in my sewing room. All I have to say is I need one of those and I have it.

All over the house including the bathrooms. On the beds, over the doors, every wall, hanging over chairs, on the back of couches. I also have quilts hanging at my office in every room. I think there are about 15 there.
|
All over the house, but when we got new end tables for the living room they had an open bottom so I folded quilts and display them there. Also have a quilt rack in that room.

Last October our guild had a Quilt Home Tour. Quilts were displayed in all over the place. In every room and every place imaginable, including the bathroom. I had over 100 quilts of all sizes in my home alone. If you get the opportunity to go to one of these you will be amazed at the creative ways to display quilts. BUT none were displayed on a gun or a rake. Very cool. I'll keep these in mind for our next show; October 2012 in Southwest Kansas.

I love your displays...very creative. Your quilts are also beautiful.
|
Mine are on the beds.

I have a king size Amish Broken Star On a wall in the den. I have a 3 bar quilt rack in two bedrooms . I bought a 100 year old cabinet with glass doors for my craft room and a large Armoire for the Master Bedroom. Finally , I have a large walnut shelf and quilt bar in my craft/computer room. I rotate table toppers and laps quilts based on the season. No skill of my own , so I support gifted quilters. Can you say Addiction.
|
I have one on an entryway table, dining table and table in my sun room. I cover the one in the sunroom with clear vinyl because we use that table all of the time. Also have them on two beds, and on the wall. Overflow is in a glass quilt chest that I bought at one of the quilt shows a couple of years ago.

I love your hangers!!! I have a couple over the easy chair. My dad is building me a quilt rack and once I get that, then I will have more displayed!

On the beds, on the sofa and chair
|
I use them for decorate as well as use, so I have them in every room of the house except the bathrooms. I have them on the wall, drapped over an antique childs school chair. Over an antique dry sink. Drapper over my ugle walker (sure makes that look nice), end of the bed, on the couch, each dog kennel has one covering it. and just about done with a daybed cover. So I have them every where. Not all mine are big, I have small ones, and miniatures as well.

Love your quilt hangers, my kind of decorating. |
Mine are displayed on the sofa with a kid wrapped inside.
|
Love your racks.
|
The only thing that doesn't have a quilt on it is the toilet seat. Mine are everywhere, along with some cherished art pieces made by friends and family. I had a neighbor come over one day and she said my home was like walking into an art gallery.
|
I think your ideas are very creative ways of displaying them !
I have one quilt rack in the master bedroom, one wall hanging rack in the bounus room , one wall hanging rack in my studio, also three on beds I try and change them out for each of the season's . I have seen were you can attack curtain rods to the wall for hangers haven't done that yet , but would like to try that. |
Love your decorating ideas! Softens the look of the potential "weapons"!
|
Awesome! Is that a 22 rifle single shot.... Remington or Winchester???
|
My favorite, quick, simple quilt hanging technique... some of you will cringe no doubt... I staple them to the wall. There's no distortion from the weight of the quilt as long as you don't pull or stretch it while stapling. It's quick to remove and doesn't leave big holes in the wall or your quilts. I staple all the way around on large ones - close to the binding, as much as needed to hold the weight evenly.
|
since my quilts are between 95 x 95 and 100 x 100, i just have them hanging on finished boards through sleeves. when i furnished the room they hang in, i deliberately left 2 walls open for that purpose. the quilts fill the spots they hang in. i switch out between the few i keep and all the others have been given as gifts.

On beds, table tops, walls, and on lazy boys in living room and quilt. rack in my living room
|
Great idea , better than push pins !!!!

I do have a cover not quilted it is fabris painted but it is homemade from a lady that lives in Mex, I worked with her daughter for years , she was so sweet to gift this to me !
|
Three quilt racks, on bed, over chairs and sofa, in stacks ready to be FMQ'd, they are everywhere. Getting ready to tell my girls, (2 daughters, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 granddaughter, 2 granddaughters in law), to take what they want and then I am going to see if I can sell a lot of the others unquilted. I asked my older daughter if I should stop making so many and she said "NO" if you enjoy making them, keep going! Isn't she a sweetheart!

It "clamps" the quilts without hurting them, there's a little notch for the binding to set into without getting squished. He calls them "pressure racks"...it's two pieces that clamp the quilt I think is more accurate. :) That may help us understand what you have! Thanks!! |

Would really like to see a picture when done. Sounds like a great idea. |
I have mine hanging on the walls--I go to JoAnns and buy the decorative rods and then buy the packages of hooks and clips (can't remember the name but you will know them when u see them) and you can put as many across your quilt that you need.
|
I started counting mine after reading this==I have 20 in my house--a bunch in my RV.
|
I like to drape mine over the upstairs railing, even the ones that are not sandwiched and quilted yet ... kinda reminds me I need to finish them.
I change out quilts by season or holiday. Also have some hanging on my walls and on my quilt rack. And love the idea of making more and more. Interestingly, I don't have any on beds. Well makes sense since I don't make large quilts. |
