I am good at the needle arts. Embroidery, crewel, counted x, crochet (I can make lace), sewing clothing, all my plaids & stripes match up.

I am an excellent photographer, from back in the day before point & shoot, focus, f stops, etc!

I am quite a good artist-watercolor, pastel, oil pastel, pencil, charcoal.

My papercrafting is great, too, scrapbooking & card-making.

My beading is quite pretty.

NONE of this translates into being a "good quilter". My seams are 1/4". But if I move past something that doesn't matter, beyond rails or log cabin, or pinwheels...it doesn't match up.

The humility is good for me, I think. *sigh*

I hear you. I often use a pattern that seams and 1/4" are not so important:)

lol, you have a great attitude, and I have no doubt you will one day be a great quilter. Time and practice ;-)

Though I suspect you are being a little hard on yourself.

Practice, practice, practice!!! I'm still working on them!!!

Just a little bit of guidance is all you need.

some little tricks that only come from learning from a quilting friend.

You will get that here for sure.. just post your project, progress and problems.. you will get all the help you can manage

bearisgray 05-27-2011 03:11 PM

You will probably get better with practice.

Humility is good for all of us (I guess!). You'll get the hang of it.

I do the quilting for the love of it...I agree it doesn't have to be perfect...it just has to be.
