I've tied many, many quilts over the years. All my charity quilts have been/are tied. My children's quilts are tied too. No point in going to all that work to hand quilt it when it's going to have a rough life anyway.
I use either a thicker crochet thread or embroidery floss. They both turn out nicely. |

I also use 3 strands of embroidery floss. I like the softer look rather than yarn.

I would take a permanent marker in the color of his choice and mark those little white worms. Of course, he can help. Good Luck.

Depending on the quilt collors, sometimes I use embroidery floss, makes a nice firm knot and is much harder to see than yarn. Colored crochet thread is also a good thing to use. Have fun, Gail

Would it help if the knots and tails were on the back side of the quilt so they would not show on the front? Also, you could use thead of what ever type you choose in colors to match the areas that have the ties.
