You are right, men don't understand and never will! They just aren't made like us. Poor things.

Yep, just bought another one tonite. Gee, I already have one like it :)

My husband doesn't usually say too much about things I want, BUT I don't think he ever checked out the closet where my stash is. He always comments on WHY do you want that car (Benz slk350), it's a waste of money. The answer he gets from me is. All the money you have spent on cigarettes over the last 20 years I already could have had it. He was suppose to quit with me when I was PG with my last child. Of course, most of the tools I use, not him.

I don't think men ever do understand about our sewing machines or our "stash". However, when I made this year's family reunion quilt and didn't need to buy background or backing fabric, he didn't "gritch" so much about my stash. Fortunately for me, my girlfriend, to whom I had passed on the bulk of my stash that I had to get rid of, had saved a large piece of fabric that I had given her and not only was it large enough to back the king size quilt, I have between 5-6 yards left. The funny part is that another friend had given it to me when she cleaned out her MIL's fabric and I think Bea had wanted to make curtains or something. The quilt was Sister's Choice, in memory of my sister who passed away 2 years ago, 2 months after the last reunion. She always gave my husband ducks for Christmas and the fabric had a very small canadian goose pattern. Talk about kismet. I'm sure she's laughing up in heaven. Before we moved I think I had 6 machines, 2 in cabinets, but I gave away all but 3 of them, which I moved with me. When my machine needs to get serviced, I want to be able to sew or quilt, as the spirit moves.

You need another sewing machine, for the same reason he needs more than one pair of underwear, - to take care of the important things in life!!! ;-)

My husband has bought more old singers than me. I actually try to talk HIM out of buying them now. lol

When I got my 1st frame, I had to reorganize to fit the table in my sewing room. I had ALL Of my fabric piled on that table. My husband came in, saw it all and said "You have ALL that fabric and you buy MORE" My reply?

I have THREE THINGS TO SAY:


1. its LEGAL. All of this fabric was purchased or was a gift. No one will come to my door and arrest me for sewing.

2. you are gone half the week. My quilting (and watching my beloved Diamondbacks) keeps me busy. Its cheaper than a private investigator or therapy.

3. If you paid someone to make all the gifts I have made over the years, you would have paid ALOT more money than is in this room. (that is not true after the long arm came home!)

His eyes got wide..and he said "Oh!" and that was the end of that! He is a golfer..and when he goes to play golf, he KNOWS I'm happy ..and doing something I love.

Now if he wanted a tool that would be a whole new story wouldn't it. Hope you get the sewing machine you want and not to much. Good Luck. Hubby are all about the same I guess. Sue
