I am color challenged, so I would like some advice
 

I want t make myself DWR quilt I want it to have traditional look. I have been looking a fabric trying to find something that I like

I found this soho calico collection at MSQC. Do you guys think that the pink collection and blue collection will work on the quilt together. I will probably use some moda grunge white for the background

I think that will make a beautiful DWR. I would add some cheddar orange to the pink and blue mix. Look at this quilt from Bonnie Hunter using those colors. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/...ht-part-7.html

I'm in the same place as you, considering a DWR and trying to pick fabrics. To me, the 2 bundles look like they would work well. They both have a fair number of yellow & green accent fabrics to keep things interesting.
Are you considering a scrappy placement? What about the 4 patches that form when the rings intersect? I've been looking at pictures and often the scrappy ones will use the same fabrics thru the entire quilt for this 4 patch. seems to tie things together...

Limiting to just two colors, you need to think of what two fabrics will be different for the arcs??

I like the pinks and blues together.

thanks everyone. I will be making a scrappy version. I am making a scrappy one now for my nephew's wedding and it is grey and yellow (11 different fabrics) on a white back ground. I will have to think about using the only 2 color comment that ManiacQuilter2 said. I did that on my own for my current project, funny :)

For the connecting corners of the arc I would probably pick 2 solid colors - or at least almost solid and not used anywhere else in the quilt. Pink and blue would be nice.. so would yellow and orange.....decisions decisions

I will wait for my tax refund before I buy anything, but I would love to get my window shopping done ahead of time so when the money comes I can just click "buy now" :)

I'm color challenged as well - profoundly, according to my opthalmolagist. (I don't think I spelled that right, but I sincerely tried!)

It is somewhat limiting, but I have discovered that if I use no more than 4 fabrics, plus a neutral for sashing or whatever, my quilts come out well. If the fabrics are very busy, then I can't use them together - it's just too much for my brain to handle.

So, like you, if I have any doubt about colors/fabrics working together, I ask for help.

You do have the advantage of making the quilt for yourself - which means anything you like together is fine!

The vintage DWR that I grew up with had pink and blue as the solid color four patches and the little wedges in the arcs were small prints of all different colors. The background was off white muslin.

I think scrappy could also be beautiful.
