Reminds me of something that happened to me.
Years ago I had chronic neck pain for months, some days better, some worse, but never gone.
Then I was in bad car accident, transported by squad to hospital with brace and head taped to board cause I said I had chronic neck pain. Checked me over, gave me the OK and sent me home. All my friends kept saying in a few days it will catch up with you and it will really start to hurt.
Good news, neck pain went away and never came back.
I called it Traumatic Chiropractic.

I'm glad nothing more serious didn't happen! Yes you were very lucky. I'm soooo badddd about not changing needles like I should. And I always have some on hand. I wonder why we do that? It's gonna bite me one day & I will deserve it.

My machine makes a noise when the needle gets bent, after a while I change it and noise stops. I wonder if there is any damage done using a bent needle. I sure hope not, my other machines don't make a noise.

it didn't happen because i hadn't changed the needle. it happened because i was sewing over pins. the dumb luck part of the story is that hitting the pin straightened the needle and knocked off whichever infinitesimal burr had made it dull and noisey.

i've had to dig pins out of my bobbin area many times before on many different machines over the years. nothing new about that. this is the first time it ever renewed a needle. usually breaks them. i'm also fascinated by the quieter run and better tension. those two must be my imagination. i guess. who knows.

oh no, did you get your machine running smoothly again

patricej 05-17-2010 01:52 AM

i'm an old hand at digging pins out of my machines. it's running just fine. no damage. just a reminder that i push my luck.

one of these days it'll run out.
