I do my cutting on the island in the kitchen for most everything and have found it's a good height. Occasionally I'll do some trimming and squaring up on the diningroom table where my machine is, but I can't do it for long as it is too low and hurts my back.

Hi and welcome from Alaska. table risers will help. But I use a cutting table from Joann's that folds up.

Most of the time I have a six foot folding table that I cut on, but if I'm going to do a lot of cutting at once, I use my kitchen counters...but then I'm 5'9"...

I have a cutting table.Well it is a cutting mat on top of some commercial drawers where I keep my scraps, ribbons, etc.I would say like everyone else you need something taller.

My husband actually bought me a dining room table that is 36 inches tall and 60"x60" square and has 8 tall chairs. I am 5 foot tall and it is actually a good size for me, but even with that I still have to rest between cutting. And the table is just wonderful for me to layer my quilts.

I haven't yet found the perfect height for cutting and maybe it doesn't exist. Cutting at countertop height left my hands aching and cutting at table height is hard on my back. I would recommend making sure you have a really sharp blade in your rotary cutter to minimize the strain....or go for the Accucut Go (I'm not sure if I spelled that right.). I've heard wonderful things from owners, but I just can't justify buying one at this time. Christmas next year? ;)

Due to health probs I cannot stand too long so since starting quilting I have learned to cut my fabric etc; sitting down. I do have a good adjustable Office chair, a special treat to myself, and have learned how to fold n cut. I cannot cut standing up now. I have found the secret is to always have a good sharp blade and of course the proper rulers but it is so easy to cut sitting down, try it and see.

Sometimes I just mark up a bunch and then go sit and watch TV while I cut them out. I very seldom use my rotary cutter. Just a template.
