I do a lot of cutting on my kitchen counter. I have an island that works out just great. I also have a cutting board that I put down on the counter top as not to scratch the counter. Also cut at a card table with the chair that comes with the table. I just get a back ache from sewing. I put a chair cushion on the chair to raise me up a bit and that helped.

Sitting on a higher chair/barstool sometimes helps, I have the same problem. Had my kitchen island built higher than most so it is comfortable....if it is cleaned off...lol
for small jobs I bought a very sturdy molded TV tray, the 15 x 22 cutting mat fits perfectly. So I can sit in my sewing chair and cut by the machine.

I use my kitchen counter since my sewing space is the kitchen table. Seems to work for me. :lol:

Kitchen counter is what I use mostly. I'm only 5 ft., but the dining table is still too low. Know what you mean about backache. Marge

Hi! I have the same problem, but your kitchen counter might be the best place. I put my mat on it and just cut away!

i had that problem at first , then i raised my table and it is not so bad on the back now

When I had a chance to get a new dining set a couple years ago, I chose one that is taller than most, so I could stand up to cut fabric. I have low back problems and that was my fix.

I've have a table that I've put pvc pipe on to make it taller.bought it at home depot in short lengths.

For years I used my kitchen bar which is quite high. Later on, I bought a table that I could adjust to the height that I needed. (I believe I bought it at Cosco.)
