If someone had stolen it they would get my vote to rot in hell. At least you know there is a chance for the quilt to be returned. I hope the address it was delivered to has nice people living there. More people then you probably imagine think that if it's delivered to them it's theirs.

Just thowing this out for an idea. I would be willing to sew a couple of blocks and sending them to you. If we could get a few
of us together. Would you have the time and resources to sew them together and maybe we could get a quilt together for her. We could all do line pink and white colors. Just a thought. ruthie |
If you have a photo of the item, you can register it on quilterscache.com. Maybe someone will see it.

I had a package delived, at least they said if was. My address is 412. They delivered it to 421 and swore it was my house. The people at 421 were on vacation, so I didn't get the package for 2 weeks, but it finally got here. So keep your fingers crossed.

This is horrible news. My prayer is that this quilt will be found and in time for your cousin to surround herself with it so she may feel all the love that comes with it. A quilt instructor recently said never declare when sending a package that it is a quilt, say bedding. My heart goes out to you, let us know if it does turn up as I'm one praying for that outcome.

Have your cousin place a "dummy box" on her porch with a note in it, stating please bring back a quilt made for a cancer patient. However, I would place a camera trained on the porch with the dummy box. We did this when our daughter's car was keyed. We caught the "trash" the nex time he tried to damage the car. These days you have to be your own police. I would also place a theft complaint with the Postmaster on both ends of your mailing experience. So sorry for your pain.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss or misdelivered pkg for your cousin. It may show up yet. It would give me such pleasure to return a box misdelivered to me by mistake. Maybe the person has not had time to get it returned. My hope is that it will show up at your cousins or back to you soon. Prayers will be sent for your cousins pending surgery.

I am so sorry, my prayers are with you and your cousin.

I will call the PO in GA and hope that the mail carrier realized that my cousin didn't live at that address. Hopefully, my box is being returned to me. If not, I'll have to chalk this up to a stupidity on my part. One can't grow without making mistakes. I will make her another quilt. Y'all are all awesome. Thanks so much!!! Hugs to each of you. :D :D :D |

I wasn't gone too long...2 hours. When I came home I went in one door and they went out another. Thank goodness I wasn't gone longer! What did they take? My quilt top!, and the other quilt on the bed, computer monitor, electric tooth brush, bottle of soft soap, camera, watch and few other things. They had other things boxed up ready to go out. I know what you mean...work on making a quilt and it disappear...the time...the money...the thought of sharing it with someone you love...

Sometimes the delivery is made to the wrong address by mistake. That has happened to me when the address was close in name or the wrong street number. You might have her check with the neighbors.

Sorry to hear about your quilt missing. Hopefully it will turn up in a couple of days. I was wondering how much you insured it for, and how difficult will it be to get paid for a quilt. Inquiring minds want to know. |
That is so sad. Hopefully it will turn up.

I am so sorry. My niece just passed away from breast cancer, leaving a young girl. I'd be devastated if I made her a quilt and someone took it. Certainly hope whoever took it has a conscience.

I will be praying for your cousin in a speedy recovery from surgery & an easy time going through chemo. |
I hope who ever did this gets their just do. That is do wrong. I hope that she recovers and kicks that cancer's butt!
One of my friends is being put in hospice, the spinal cancer spread to his brain. I made him a quilt with all of his friends pictures on it so he knows we are with him in his struggle. Prayers going to you and your cousin. |
I am so sorry that someone found it in their heart or lack of one to steal a box of anything! I would be sick to my stomach. To work on something special for someone and then to have it stolen is just not right.

Ultimately, this whole fiasco is my fault because I sent the package to the wrong address based on wrong information that I received. Guess I'm the one who will rot in hell. My thanks to all of you. |
So sorry this happened hope you find it.
|
Oh, how sad, can only pray that it makes it way to it's proper home. Wishing all the best for your cousin.
|
What a same!I feel for you and your right you can't replace a quilt.

We had a similar situation but with medication. Post office said they left a note in the box to pick up at post office, but we never received the note. We contacted our carrier who said this happens often. She went into the post office and started looking after another employee had checked for us the previous day. She found the package behind a shelf where it had evidently fallen. Whoever entered the info about the note, had not been honest...they had no clue what had happened to the package.
|
I hope it was misdelivered and an honest person will do right and get it to her.
My thoughts are with you and her for it to arrive safely. |
How awful the world is full of rotten people.
I really hope somehow it will turn up. That was so thoughtful of you to make her a quilt. You are a nice person. :( |
I am so sorry. If it was stolen that is the worst. What is the matter with people these days?????

Does anybody actually read all of the replies before posting? We're on page 8 now and people are still telling her to check the neighbors or suggesting ways to catch the thief. The OP posted on PAGE 3 that she was given the wrong address to which to send the quilt, which is why it was never received. Please, please, please read all replies before posting.
Dear OP, I hope you can contact the family at the wrong address to get this straightened out. |
I am so sorry this happened to you! Maybe the driver remembers who he gave it to? I know its a long shot but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I hope whoever took it was just busy and forgot they placed it somewhere. Good luck and I hope you find it soon!
|
my heart goes out to you......
|
I'm so sorry,I hope the quilt turns up,I will say a prayer for you and your cousin.
|
Thanks, qb--I have been biting my tongue for several pages now!
My missing box is found---sent to the wrong person! Obviously I was having a bad day! |
sorry that happened.
|
I keep checking back hoping you'll say it turned up!
|
Once again, thank you all for your kind words.
I put a call into the post office of the city I sent the quilt to...Athens, GA. The lady I spoke with will talk to the carrier and give me a call. I'm trying to be optimistic. In the meantime, I will plan and start another quilt for Mistye this weekend. IF the first quilt shows up, she'll have two quilts from me. |
Yes! The power of prayer!
|
Wether you have insurance or sign for delivery if the package is lost in the mail it is lost in the mail! I sent a quilt to Idaho in January and it took a full month for it to reach it's destination this year. Last one I sent there took less than a week. I live in Maryland and when I send a package to Florida it only takes 3 or 4 days at the cheapest rate. Letters to there take 7-10 days! Go figure! Good luck on your package. I'm betting it will probably get there only later then usual.
