I bought a Bailey 13 quilting machine!!!

Thanks to those who responded to my question about what machine to buy. As soon as I saw the Bailey 13 I knew it was perfect for my needs! I have never spent that much money on something just for my pleasure!
It will be shipped from New York, so I will get it in about a week! That will give me time to finish up some sewing I need to do, cause I know once I get it here I will have to get aquainted with my present to myself. I am a happy camper!!

Way to go, Ditter! A Christmas present just for you!
Have fun with it!!! :)

Born2Sew 12-01-2011 01:42 PM

There's a Bailey group at yahoo, you might wish to join. Lot's of good info there, and you can ask questions too.
So if you encounter any problems at all, you can post about them and get answers....

Congrats! I'm still getting used to my 15. Don't have the room to set up my frame all the time. I have four quilt tops ready to do, but think I'm going to wait until after the Holidays are behind us, and things slow down some.

Have fun with your Bailey!

Thumbelina 12-01-2011 01:50 PM

Ditter43 12-01-2011 04:39 PM

Thanks for all your responses. One thing I forgot to mention. Bailey is an American made machine. I am all for buying products made in America.

Rose L 12-01-2011 04:59 PM

Ditter 43, Tried to PM you but your mailbox is FULL! You need to delete some messages or no can can send you mail anymore. Just an FYI. There is a box limit of 500 now.

Congratulations on your new Bailey! You should be able to quilt about a 9" depth of fabric with each pass. Make yourself a quilt sandwich with a couple yards of ugly or low quality fabric and a piece of batting in between. Once you've filled the sandwich with stitches just change thread colors and practice again and again. The other piece of advice that I can give you is to **remember to put your presser foot down before sewing**. LOL, that's the number one problem most newbies encounter. Just wanted to pass it on. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I also second joining the Yahoo Group for "Baileyquiltingmachines".

nannyrick 12-01-2011 05:03 PM

I,m sure you will love it. I live about an hour away from where they are made and went to see the Baileys.
They look like a great machine and are on my wish list.
Congratulations.

june6995 12-02-2011 10:04 AM

Congratulations.....I bought that exact same machine 4 years ago ...at age 74 and hope to use it until I can no longer sew....which should be when I am 100. My Dad lived to be 102. So I expect to get a lot of use out of my Bailey.

Yes, please tell us how you like it as I too think it might be the one for me. Let us know how much of a "learning curve" there is. Glad you treated yourself to a present!

ree-nee 12-03-2011 04:48 AM

As we say in Alabama I am so proud for you! Happy adventures!

bubbacat2 12-03-2011 05:23 AM

My husband and I spend some time in Homosassa traveling by RV. As a matter of fact, we just got back to NC the week of Thanksgiving (so I could cook for the family and friends). It looks like we may go back in January if we don't get snowed in. I'm a new quilter so don't know anything about a quilting machine. Hope you enjoy your newly purchased Christmas present.

olebat 12-03-2011 05:38 AM

How wonderful for you. I feel greedy though - does this mean you'll be so busy sewing and playing with Bailey that we won't get many chuckles to brighten our mornings?

luci4 12-03-2011 08:47 AM

Have fun with your new toy. That is the machine that I am currently looking into.

lizpatterson1 12-03-2011 08:59 AM
