I can see!!!!

The lighting in the room where I put my long arm was all at the other end of the room. There was no light on the end where it is except for lamps. I thought about ordering a light bar but it was 500.00+ shipping. So, I decided to look at some track lighting. Its not the best in the world. But, it is a start. My DH and a friend helped me get it wired up and hung. I'm planning on adding onto it to make it go further across. $100.00 so far. What do you think?

Tartan 02-05-2013 06:52 PM

Looks super! With the light coming straight down you shouldn't have any shadows.

Sally J 02-05-2013 06:53 PM

I like it. Great solution!!!!! We quilters are really "crafty"

Sandra in Minnesota 02-05-2013 06:56 PM

Looks great to me!

QuiltnNan 02-05-2013 07:03 PM

looks like a great solution

Chasing Hawk 02-05-2013 07:04 PM

Wonderful job. My husband always asks if I have enough light to work by.
If I don't, it's off to Lowes for some new lights. :)

joyce888 02-05-2013 07:08 PM

Great idea!

mighty 02-05-2013 07:09 PM

Great job, should really help!!!!!

Cyn 02-05-2013 07:11 PM

Oh my I've been trying to decide on how I wanted to get more lighting over my cutting and ironing area! I may borrow yours. Thank you!

deanneellen 02-05-2013 07:31 PM

Looks like it will do the trick for you!

vickimc 02-05-2013 07:39 PM

Love it. My husband added some like that for me a few weeks ago.. I just have to plug and unplug them. Love them.

cowgirlquilter 02-05-2013 07:53 PM

Great way to problem solve!!

Digitizingqueen 02-05-2013 08:01 PM

Awesome solution, I'm lucky I got the light bar with mine, but that looks like a great solution.

vondae 02-05-2013 11:55 PM

Way to go, Leesa. You are so smart & talented.

KwiltyKahy 02-06-2013 05:35 AM

Looks great and makes me envious.

nabobw 02-06-2013 05:46 AM

looks good

I did the same thing in mine. I had an overhead lighting fixture but it did not pinpoint the light the way I wanted it to. I still prefer to quilt by daylight as I don't get shadowing at all but my track light is the next best thing.

Butterflyblue 02-06-2013 06:12 AM

Looks like a great solution. And affordable.

#1piecemaker 02-06-2013 06:54 AM

It has certainly helped. I can't wait to add more to it. Gotta get back to Lowes!!!

carslo 02-06-2013 07:20 AM

To have light is a wonderful thing. I had no overhead lights in my sewing studio so I had a clip-on light, Ott freestanding and a desk Ott still not enough light. There is a suspended ceiling in the room so I went to Lowe's and bought a shop light and also purchased Daylight bulbs that plugs into the wall. It now hangs directly above my sewing table and I can see to sew all night long if desired. Necessity is the mother of invention - and if there is a will there is a way. Great job of solving your lighting problem!

Onebyone 02-06-2013 07:23 AM

Good idea! I had a round roof skylight added to my sewing room. The roofer had it installed in a few hours. It's fantastic during the day! It's like being outside. I have Ott light bulbs for night time sewing.

gabeway 02-06-2013 08:47 AM

Think you have done great job with it. Congrats!

marymay 02-07-2013 04:39 AM

You did a great job. Thanks I am having DH look at this for me.

QuiltingHaven 02-07-2013 04:46 AM

Add some of the new LED lights to the bar as you can afford them. They are still very expensive but they will last years and are wonderfully bright!!!! I have been buying one bulb a month since they were introduced - they are wonderful for working on quilting.

solstice3 02-07-2013 05:52 AM

looks like a good fix for a good price

My daughter had track lighting in her kitchen and it created a LOT of heat. Good light but uncomfortable, esp with the stove running, too. They finally took it down and installed a ceiling fan with lighting

quiltmom04 02-07-2013 06:25 AM

I have that track lighting above my sewing table and love it! Love your Longarm, too !

jbj137 02-07-2013 07:20 AM

Nice area & lighting.

IBQUILTIN 02-07-2013 08:09 AM

Great idea, and great helpers. It sure makes it nicer when you can see things clearly

grandme26 02-07-2013 08:24 AM

Looks great. The more light the better.

jgriinke 02-07-2013 08:26 AM

I've had track lighting in my studio for years! I love it. I can move the light fixture where I need them. I have a tendency to move things around now and then. :)

funny, if that had the title "Quilter's Lite Bar" or something similiar, it would cost a lot more.........you have solved your own problem and at a premium...........bet a lot of us will follow your idea.......

JoanneS 02-07-2013 09:30 AM

Excellent idea!

Shorebird 02-07-2013 04:33 PM

Looks GREAT!!! I really like the ability to adjust the direction/focus of the lights......nice setup!

ube quilting 02-07-2013 04:57 PM

A wonderful and adaptable solution to an ever present problem for most of us. You can see clearly now.

Buy the way, is that a Nolting LA in the corner. The table looks just like mine and the color is very familiar!

Give up some info on her, please! How do you like her!
peace

I'd say you've found a suitable solution and you should have plenty of light now, especially with it aimed over your LAQ

T. 02-07-2013 06:56 PM

my thinking too. And get the "day light" ones, they are nice and bright.

nstitches4u 02-07-2013 07:19 PM

Looks like you have solved your lighting problem without breaking the bank.
