I bought the state flower blocks, sashed them in a mid-green (all the blocks had some green in them) and set them on point. Love the quilt and I can't wait to get home and get it quilted! Love the birds!! Wish I could find a deal like that on the birds as well!!! Lucky you

These look similar to a quilt I remember seeing at my grandmother's house. That quilt was made in the 30's, I believe.

My Grandmother made one of the states with the birds and my cousin has it and I emailed her and she sent me a pic and she said it was done in 1948 she thought. Will try to post the pic.

I embroidered a set of bird blocks in the 70's. Set them together with beige and brown. My mother quilted it for me and I have it saved for my son if he ever wants it. He's48 now, not married, living at home, on the road as a long haul truck driver a week at a time, so doesn'thave time for much else in his life. I did a set of the state flowers and put them together with pink. My mother had her neighbor quilt it and it is here for my daughter whenever she wants it. She just bought a house after being married for almost 25 years, divorced, lived in an apartment, and finally decided it was time to buy a home and put the rent money on something tangible. I loved doing the embroidery, but wasn't a quilter until much later.
