I can't find this pattern

Help me ladies. I captured this photo from this site but I have no idea who made this beautiful quilt. I've decided its a "must do" . Now I need to know where it came from. Thanks
MaryKatherine |
I remember seeing this quilt, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it. CRS is kicking my bum. LOL
The quilt is beautiful. |
Wonder if it is Fons and Porter? I've seen it before too. Right...defintely need the pattern.
OMG..found it! it IS fons and porter in thier "Our Best Seasonal Quilts." They call in Impessions of fall. I"ll pm you! |
I have this pattern. It's called "Third Weekend in October" by Ruth Powers. I'm pretty sure I've seen the pattern in the Keepsake quilting catalog. I bought the one I have at Great American Quilt Factory in Denver but they're out of business now.
|
That's a Ruth Powers quilt called Third Weekend in October. You can buy the pattern from her for $7.00 at http://www.ruthpowersartquilts.com/s...tail.php?ID=47
|
I think I remember that pattern being in the Keepsake Catalog a few years back. Not sure if they still have it.
|
After I pulled my pattern out to get the name and designers name off of it I pulled the pattern out and looked at it. Now I remember why this one is at the very back of the pattern bin. It has a whole lot of little paper pieced parts and you pretty much have to have a design wall to keep it all straight.
|
It is in the current Keepsake Quilting Newsletter... Volume 24...Holiday 2011 (P.29) www.keepsakequilting.com
|
KQ does have it as a kit (for $49.99) and it's not complete,
http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/3502.htm but the OP asked for the pattern...which the designer is selling for $7.00 (link in my prior post above). |
How could I have missed that. It is just so awesome. I would like to also have the name of it.
|
Neat pattern!
|
wonder if you could just use one of the free maple leaf patterns, use fall colors and get that same kind of look...sure is pretty
|
That is a gorgeous pattern. Does anyone know if it includes all the foundation papers?

I made this quilt about 10 years ago. Handquilted it. You definitely need a design wall as the pieces run into each other and it takes some "doing" to keep your fabrics and colors straight. A friend also made this quilt and sold it at "Sisters" show for $1200. I will give mine to a granddaughter who is getting married next October.

This quilt definitely deserves "Heirloom" status. It is gorgeous.
|
This quilt is so beautiful.
|
For an easier version, I would make a backgound of mixed colors, add the border then sew all the different color and size leaves on it stacked and cut to layer.

I am also very fond of the board's own Eddie L's "Fall Leaves" quilt. Now I am going to have to make both fall leaves quilts... |
|
It is beautiful. It looks like someone threw a bunch of pretty leaves up in the air and they landed haphazardly and were left there. Just like in nature. Be sure to show pictures when you finish making this quilt.
|
I remember seeing it here too ... thank you Ghostrider for sharing the link to purchase the pattern.
I gotta ask ... it looks like it could be lots of work, but I know from experience that looks can be deceiving. Anyone know if it is a difficult pattern or lots of work? I can't tell by looking at this gorgeous quilt! |
I really hope she realizes what she is getting and appreciates it. Sometimes people receive quilts as gifts and don't take care of them!

You ladies are so amazing. Someone posts a picture of a quilt they want to make and sure enough, someone knows the
name of the pattern, then a couple more posts and a link. I clicked on it - and that was it :0) |
I would love to make this quilt, too! I will order the pattern from Keepsake Quilting. Looks like lots of us will be making this one. It is a real challenge!
Kathy |
Very pretty but looks like it might be a lot of work but then what isn't that you really like. Go for it. Sue
|
Bookmarked it! Let us know how it turned out.
|
Thanks for the link, ghostrider! It's going into my "one of these days" pile!
|
Wow! I love that, but it looks like a big headache waiting to happen. :)
|
Way too complicated for me. Good luck!
|
It is beautiful!!!

I made this quilt years ago. I'm pretty sure Keepsake Quilting still has it. I still have the pattern.
|
Looks like a pattern called Cascading Leaves....alot of the girls in my old guild did it years ago....blessings
|
I remember seeing this pattern & kit in the keepsakes Catalogue

After such a run on Third Weekend In October patterns, I Googled to see what might have started it all and discovered Quilting Board! Thank you all who ordered it and other INNOVATIONS patterns as well! They are shipping out today.
To answer a few of the questions that have risen--no it is not difficult. Just straight seams. There ARE a lot of pieces and a lot of seams that is why it is so striking! One similar was featured in Fons and Porter and it was SO similar i feel it was a knockoff but didn't have such a nice border. It requires purchased half square triangle papers but the others are ones you make yourself using a method that is easy and accurate and inexpensive - not photocopy. The pattern is an older one, it has been my best seller, and is still being offered at the original price of $7.00 on my website. The original quilt won many awards. There is a wall hanging version called New Leaves wall hanging as well. Same techniques, lots fewer pieces! |
october quilt
Or you could order a pkg of the pre-cut leaves and applique them all over the top!

I bought the pattern when it first came out. It does take a bit of work, but it isn't hard. It was what kept me sane when my husband was recovering from 4x by-pass surgery. It is gorgeous!
