With a 4 year old running around.. and sewing projects.. and housework, and cooking meals, etc etc etc..
I find myself often relying on the daily digest to get at least a bit of what's going on here.

I do love it when I have quite awhile to surf the boards too! :)

Murphy1 09-02-2011 09:32 AM

I have learned so much from all you wonderful quilters, so I read it when I first get up in the morning with my coffee instead of a newspaper, then throughout the day when I need a quilting break, I read some more.

IAmCatOwned 09-02-2011 10:03 AM

I limit my online time to one hour a day. On days that I can't sew (bad vision days, not feeling well), I will often spend more time and catch up with photos and comments.

nannyrick 09-02-2011 10:15 AM

Me too. If I was sewing as much as I,m on here I would have a room full of quilts.
Got to go now and try to do some sewing.

RobertaMarie 09-02-2011 10:18 AM

Like I used to do with the kids and TV~~~~ chores first, homework first then you can watch. I read every day, but try to make myself do my sewing in equal time. Sew awhile and when my shoulders get tired, I read awhile. Love this board and all the people who so lovingly share their work. It is very inspiring. Thank you!!

Eloise 09-02-2011 10:43 AM

This is my routine: Get up 7 AM, get dress, make bed, come downstairs and get my coffee and little something to eat. THENNNNNNNNN I get on my computer and read and read and read about all the quilting things that this board has to share. I do it everyday! Sometimes, as much as 3 Xs a day, depending on my schedule...golf, dr. appts., lunch, shopping, and etc.

I don't have local friends to share my quilting with, so the board is my outlet for chat and advice. I look at it after breakfast and catch up with what you've all been talking about while I was asleep. I look through the new topics and pick and choose - the titles have to tell me what the thread is about! I'll "watch" those of interest, and go back to those during the day if emails come in to tell me there are new posts. I'm usually back on the board for another look - about now!

And, unless something unusual is happening (company, day before or after a trip, super bad cold...., I quilt every day we are home.

We had dial up until last Feb. Got a dish put on the house along with my tv dish. Husband got us a new computer with a 23 inch screen.

You are not alone!!!!! Many of us spend too much time here, but that 'cause we're so d--- loveable

Latrinka 09-02-2011 01:25 PM

That's what I would like to know! Welcome to the QB!

Heck, here I sit instead of being out picking up one last dirty pile of moss that came off a roof of a carport we took down. Four loads down & one big one to go yet here I sit just in case somebody said something. LOL. I am so pathetic. I tell myself I'm taking a potty break.

Now don't any of you say anything good til I get back. Ha ha ha.

scrappy2 09-02-2011 02:25 PM

I haven't been on the QB for very long but now I'm on & off all day. I have been off work with a fractured foot but will be returning to work soon. Now I have gotten some ideas on how to budget my time with QB. I will probably go thru withdraw when I first return to work. I have learned and been sew inspired by all of you.

Rann 09-02-2011 03:19 PM

Are most of you saying you're NOT addicted to the board? Remember the first thing to do to get over an addiction is to admit it }:o)

Ok, ok, I admit it. I'm still not cured though........LOL

jeanharville 09-02-2011 03:43 PM

I'm retired and addicted too. None of my friends or family sew or quilt leaving me no one to share my thoughts and projects with. So I look forward to this QB like some people do meeting friends after work. Thanks for the virtual friendships.

Hi Jean, I'm in the same boat as you. Nobody to talk "quilt talk" with so the QB is like my buddy. I try to talk to my DDIL but she looks at me as if to ask what planet I'm from. Love that girl though.

scrappy2 09-02-2011 04:28 PM

I have only been reading the Board a few weeks and I am addicted and I don't want to be cured.

deedum 09-02-2011 04:51 PM

This is my tv time! I am a couch potato regarding the quilting board! Forget the TV! Every once in awhile I get some quilting in!

MOBRIDGE MOM 09-02-2011 04:52 PM

I read this while I am at work. Don't want you to think I am shorting my employer because I'm a 911 dispatcher and it's really busy or really boring.

littlenell7777 09-02-2011 05:29 PM

It's a tough situation! lol I don't read until LATE in the evening or night, or I would never get started.

Maris 09-02-2011 05:42 PM

Love this board. Get on first thing in the morning to see what topics are on. Those that get my attention I check first. Don't get on again until later in the morning--use it for rest periods during my daily activities instead of reading. I try to read at least the opening question and look at the pictures. It is an addiction.

Me too - but most of the time I'm more selective now in what I open to look at. That's why some of us like the headline to a topic to be more descriptive so we can open items that we're more interested in at a given time.

heather1949 09-02-2011 08:08 PM

LOL I get not much done...but hey you only live once so if you enjoy being on here I say go for it!!!!

grammysharon 09-02-2011 09:31 PM

This is me also!! Haven't sewed since Monday. I've been babysitting my 5 year old granddaughter!

:) :)
When I first joined I read everything... Now I just subscribe to a few topics and only open the ones that have an interesting title.

Katy 09-02-2011 09:44 PM

I agree. My productivity has decreased in direct proportion to my time on the board so bye now. Of couse it is almost 11pm....

GailG 09-02-2011 11:27 PM

I'm on the QB a lot too much for my own good. I definitely don't get as much done as I'd like to. But the up side is that i learn so much when I'm on. And all I do is go to the threads on the newsletter. I rarely go to the current posts, etc. Occasionally I'll use the search feature. I'm not even aware of some of the things that we can subscribe to. AND I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. hahahahaha If we lose power because of the weather, I'll be able to catch up on the sewing. I have a quilt ready to be hand quilted (probably a 6-month or more job -- cuz I'm a slow poke (no pun intended). With the generator, I'll be able to use the machine.

Me too. I'd love to be part of a group but have never found one, and don't often have anyone to talk quilting with, so this board is invaluable: it's lovely to feel part of a community. Makes it well worth the time that gets idled away here :)

Remember people that friends take time anyway. If we were to entertain our quilting friends in our homes everyday it would take time from our days. Plus we would have to dress, tidy up the house, serve a snack/drink of some kind then do those dishes afterwards. Now I sit in my favorite chair, drinking coffee from favorite mug and wearing nightgown. Hair is combed. I am learning things as I read at the time of day that is convienient to me and not when someone else decides to come for a visit. Can't read when other people are here as I have to listen to them.
Is it any wonder we all love this board because it never leaves us bored.

So I need to get a JOB in order to get more sewing done??

katrbee 09-03-2011 02:19 PM

I was getting so I only read a few things, then I read about something that I tried, and now I hate to miss anything. I started doing a crumb quilt and have about 35 6 and a half inch blocks done in just two days of "spare time' IT IS SO MUCH FUN.

MerryQuilter 09-04-2011 04:02 AM

Haha agree decided want to sew more and read QB whwn can't sew any later or not reading my pleasure books, so always behind but still enjoy it just as much.

ging10ging 09-04-2011 05:44 PM

I agree you have to be strict with yourself and get away from the computer and I must admit I am doing the same thing. I'll have to start picking and choosing but the pics are so interesting and the chats are so helpful and enjoyable. I've been trying to do some at night while watching tv with hubby. Not to mention my son got me hooked on Majong. There are so many things to do & see I don't have enough time to sleep, housework, shopping. Not enough hrs in a day. Sue
