With a 4 year old running around.. and sewing projects.. and housework, and cooking meals, etc etc etc..
I find myself often relying on the daily digest to get at least a bit of what's going on here. I do love it when I have quite awhile to surf the boards too! :) |
I have learned so much from all you wonderful quilters, so I read it when I first get up in the morning with my coffee instead of a newspaper, then throughout the day when I need a quilting break, I read some more.
|
I limit my online time to one hour a day. On days that I can't sew (bad vision days, not feeling well), I will often spend more time and catch up with photos and comments.
|
Me too. If I was sewing as much as I,m on here I would have a room full of quilts.
Got to go now and try to do some sewing. |
Like I used to do with the kids and TV~~~~ chores first, homework first then you can watch. I read every day, but try to make myself do my sewing in equal time. Sew awhile and when my shoulders get tired, I read awhile. Love this board and all the people who so lovingly share their work. It is very inspiring. Thank you!!
|
This is my routine: Get up 7 AM, get dress, make bed, come downstairs and get my coffee and little something to eat. THENNNNNNNNN I get on my computer and read and read and read about all the quilting things that this board has to share. I do it everyday! Sometimes, as much as 3 Xs a day, depending on my schedule...golf, dr. appts., lunch, shopping, and etc.

I don't have local friends to share my quilting with, so the board is my outlet for chat and advice. I look at it after breakfast and catch up with what you've all been talking about while I was asleep. I look through the new topics and pick and choose - the titles have to tell me what the thread is about! I'll "watch" those of interest, and go back to those during the day if emails come in to tell me there are new posts. I'm usually back on the board for another look - about now!

Now don't any of you say anything good til I get back. Ha ha ha. |
I haven't been on the QB for very long but now I'm on & off all day. I have been off work with a fractured foot but will be returning to work soon. Now I have gotten some ideas on how to budget my time with QB. I will probably go thru withdraw when I first return to work. I have learned and been sew inspired by all of you.

Are most of you saying you're NOT addicted to the board? Remember the first thing to do to get over an addiction is to admit it }:o)

I'm retired and addicted too. None of my friends or family sew or quilt leaving me no one to share my thoughts and projects with. So I look forward to this QB like some people do meeting friends after work. Thanks for the virtual friendships.

I have only been reading the Board a few weeks and I am addicted and I don't want to be cured.
|
This is my tv time! I am a couch potato regarding the quilting board! Forget the TV! Every once in awhile I get some quilting in!
|
I read this while I am at work. Don't want you to think I am shorting my employer because I'm a 911 dispatcher and it's really busy or really boring.
|
It's a tough situation! lol I don't read until LATE in the evening or night, or I would never get started.
|
Love this board. Get on first thing in the morning to see what topics are on. Those that get my attention I check first. Don't get on again until later in the morning--use it for rest periods during my daily activities instead of reading. I try to read at least the opening question and look at the pictures. It is an addiction.

:) :) When I first joined I read everything... Now I just subscribe to a few topics and only open the ones that have an interesting title. |
I agree. My productivity has decreased in direct proportion to my time on the board so bye now. Of couse it is almost 11pm....
|
I'm on the QB a lot too much for my own good. I definitely don't get as much done as I'd like to. But the up side is that i learn so much when I'm on. And all I do is go to the threads on the newsletter. I rarely go to the current posts, etc. Occasionally I'll use the search feature. I'm not even aware of some of the things that we can subscribe to. AND I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. hahahahaha If we lose power because of the weather, I'll be able to catch up on the sewing. I have a quilt ready to be hand quilted (probably a 6-month or more job -- cuz I'm a slow poke (no pun intended). With the generator, I'll be able to use the machine.

Remember people that friends take time anyway. If we were to entertain our quilting friends in our homes everyday it would take time from our days. Plus we would have to dress, tidy up the house, serve a snack/drink of some kind then do those dishes afterwards. Now I sit in my favorite chair, drinking coffee from favorite mug and wearing nightgown. Hair is combed. I am learning things as I read at the time of day that is convienient to me and not when someone else decides to come for a visit. Can't read when other people are here as I have to listen to them.
Is it any wonder we all love this board because it never leaves us bored. |

LOL Sue |
I was getting so I only read a few things, then I read about something that I tried, and now I hate to miss anything. I started doing a crumb quilt and have about 35 6 and a half inch blocks done in just two days of "spare time' IT IS SO MUCH FUN.

Haha agree decided want to sew more and read QB whwn can't sew any later or not reading my pleasure books, so always behind but still enjoy it just as much.
|
I agree you have to be strict with yourself and get away from the computer and I must admit I am doing the same thing. I'll have to start picking and choosing but the pics are so interesting and the chats are so helpful and enjoyable. I've been trying to do some at night while watching tv with hubby. Not to mention my son got me hooked on Majong. There are so many things to do & see I don't have enough time to sleep, housework, shopping. Not enough hrs in a day. Sue
