I keep telling myself that I can't start a new project until I finish my UFO's, and I started another one last night......I am a mess...I know I have 3 completed tops, 2 almost complete, and 2 where the blocks are done and I just have to sew the blocks together...and last night I started a new one.

I am addicted.....

Is that a bad thing??? :)

livenlearn124 04-14-2011 03:22 AM

I'm not seeing the problem here!?!!!

DON'T STOP!! :)

mimom 04-14-2011 03:23 AM

I feel your pain. I have been really good about not starting too many with out finishing. I just tell myself the sooner I get this one finished the sooner I can start the next one. My husband keeps telling me "what are you making another quilt for the closet is full" lol. I just tell him he doesn't need another tool or tool box. that usually shuts him up.

So, what's the problem? I just got my long arm up and running and wanted to practice on something. I had 2 QFK's and a jelly roll 1600 I had put together. Did all 3 of those yesterday and now don't have anything to practice on. So now I have to make more quilts. Aw shucks, do I HAVE to ?!?!?   You really NEED to have several projects in various stages of completion to keep your brain active. I used to think it should be just one project at a time. How wrong I was :!: :?

pattypurple 04-14-2011 04:18 AM

Mariposa 04-14-2011 04:43 AM

Maybe quit counting your UFO's-! It helped me! :)

Favorite Fabrics 04-14-2011 04:50 AM

Is there such a thing as Quilter's ADD?

If so, I think it would show itself as starting more projects than you ever finish.

I suspect a lot of us have it. ;)

dkabasketlady 04-14-2011 05:35 AM

theresa.redington 04-15-2011 02:47 AM

You are not alone because it sounds like the norm for a QUILTER! :o)

Yooper32 04-15-2011 02:56 AM

I make so much mess, just plotting out a new top that it is impossible for me to be doing more than one at a time...oops, I guess I am, piles on floor for "good to be square", waiting for arrival of more background fabric, and then there is a pile over on the side of the cutting table where I put my crazy quilt squares when I finish one and, oh gee, the house pile for BOM and that is the stuff you can see. Now in my mind, it is really cluttered because there is the log cabin packed away, there is the green box with the red, green and yellow fabric for another top and, and.....well, you know.

Carrie,
I have several WIP's but no UFO's. I need to be stimulated so have things to go to when my current project get boring. Repeat after me:- " I do NOT have UFO's I have WIP's. I'm creative. "

Linda1 04-15-2011 03:38 AM

I don't see a problem. I have so many and I just don't worry about it.

Traditional 04-15-2011 03:57 AM

You have a lot of COMPANY!!!!!

the old one 04-15-2011 03:59 AM

Let the project fit your mood--somedays the careful matching of corners and points will meet your need for order in the world, somedays cutting pieces will help you relax, and, even ironing that great new fabric might let you smooth out the wrinkles in your world. I can understand the 'one project at a time' quilters, but I love it all, and my work space shows it. piecefully, the old one

craftyone27 04-15-2011 04:05 AM

I SOOOO feel your pain! I have several ummm WIP(?)- OK OK UFO's and I just started a new project yesterday. I have blocks from a swap in a pile , I'm working on blocks for this month's swap, I started a Hunter's Star for my DD (just to see how I liked the pattern) , and I am planning a graduation quilt for my niece for June. Yesterday I started my first block for the Affairs of the Heart Cybersew here on the board. The blocks are gorgeous and I couldn't resist. My DH came upstairs at bedtime and asked about the progress of the block (which was going well) and then asked incredulously "Is all of that quilt handwork?", and looked at me like I'm crazy. Hmm - maybe you have to be a bit crazy to be a quilter-LOL!!

msawicki64 04-15-2011 04:20 AM

Don't feel bad. We all have several projects going on. I think we all like the excitment of starting a new project. My mom doesn't quilt but she does multiple craft projects going on at one time. So I think it's normal.

stitchinwitch 04-15-2011 04:20 AM

Can we see them when they are done? Happy Sewing!

abdconsultant 04-15-2011 04:23 AM

I feel your pain.

maryb119 04-15-2011 04:34 AM

That sounds perfectly normal to me.

love fat quarters 04-15-2011 04:36 AM

I think we're twins if not we sure do things the same way

Pieceful Quilter 04-15-2011 05:21 AM

Well, if misery loves company, I am your company! I am currently on a very tight budget, and it is killing me every time I see another project I want to do. It is however, good for clearing out all my UFO's, PIG's, WIP's...

Love your avatar.

huntannette 04-15-2011 05:31 AM

You sound like me. I think about all of the different colors I can do the pattern in and next thing I know another top is underway..
