I was told by a Bernina dealer that if a repairman is not Bernina certified, that will void the warranty on any Bernina machine for any other repairman to even touch it.

I don't have to pay to have it serviced yet. They do it for free so far. But I wouldn't mind learning how to. Only if I didn't void the warranty and didn't hurt the machine.

If I paid the price for the computerized Bernina 830~~I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Now, on my 1970s Bernina 830~~not scary at all to break it down and put it back together. Didn't know that for decades.:D
:DBut the folks here on the board who regularly take vintage machines apart to oil, grease and repair have helped to me to not be afraid to work on my machines.

I clean my Bernina frequently because it make the machine run smoothly and quietly. But I also take it in to my local Bernina dealer once a year so a professional can clean out the parts I can get to and to make any adjustments that are required. It was an expensive machine and I want to keep it in top notch condition.
