The pictures really don't look that bad. What I would try is to
take and steam iron it. Maybe some of it will come out and it
will look really nice. Just a suggestion. I think it looks good enough for a present. It has been done with so much love.

Did you iron it again. I think that will help to make it look better. I always iron mine when they come out of the dryer.

I know this sounds crazy but I don't do anything with my batting so that I DO get this affect. I love the the wrinkled look in a quilt, makes it looked like it's cozy and been keeping people warm forever. I agree I think she is going to love it!! If she doesn't you can send it my way, I love it ;)

Doesn't look that bad in the "after" pics. Try ironing it otherwise, take out quilting (ugghh) and replace batting and requilt. A lot of work but may just end up saving your quilt. Good luck.

You could try re-washing it on a gentle cycle and then gently stretching it back out to shape and air dry it. This sometimes works with sweaters, it may work with your quilt.

I am curious to see what others say.

I thought of this, too. See if this works!

Ditto, then try to block it. If it turns out a bit small still, well it's a lap quilt. Be thankful it didn't run. There's nothing you could do about that. At least that I know of. I can feel your pain. But every quilter has a horror story to tell. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Best of luck!

Difficult to help without seeing it - please post a picture. If it is not too badly damaged, perhaps you could re-shape it by dampening and blocking and/or doing some extra quilting that will stabilise it?

I really don't think it looks that bad, in fact I like a quilt that looks quilted and sorta cozy...
