I haven't stuck myself in that particular spot, but I have run the needle thru sideways. Being on blood thinners, it bled a lot. Hope you're feeling less sore soon. I don't think dealing you DH that quilter's do it all the time will make him feel better about it. Think you might reconsider that remark. LOL I personally told my DH I was just an idiot and wasn't paying attention. That he found believable. I love my DH. I use the "Ultrathimble", which is one of those stick on pads with metal circle piece with dimples that conforms to your finger. Use one on left hand and one on right. I find it more comfortable and easier to use than a thimble. Really stinks having to mend your sewing boo boo before continuing on! Hope you mend quickly. Don't want any blood on the masterpiece.

I sew in cramped space & live with curious cockatoo. I ran the needle through my finger while trying to keep his face/tongue away from the needle assembly as it went up & down. Very painful for several days! It's the only time I've ever done that. Just went through the flesh though. Bad enough!!

The time it happened to me, I had a needle go thru nail & thru the finger.Didn't actually hurt....at 1st.But when I slowly raised the needle ...Oh,WOW:-( - :-( - at the time I was using the hopping foot for FM quilting. Let me tell you, I have a lot of respect for that foot now!!Lesson learned!

Too funny. So would you have rather had the ugly ones?

Yes, I have done it. The new machine sew fast, it is in and out before you know what happened.

It aches a lot for several days, after that, you just to have to let the nail grow out to look better.

I am much more careful now. Better late than not at all. I am sorry, I know much it hurts. I can sure sympathize.
