I did once cut my thumb just back of the nail right down to the bone, trimming a horse's hoof. I thought it would never stop bleeding. And no, I do not call myself a professional farrier.

Sewed through my finger on my grandma's treadle when I was 18 and done the sole knife thing as well. Used to trim my horses' hoofs. No treadle anymore, Grandma gave it away. (offered the lady $300 in the 70s to get it back, but she said NO) No horses either! I think those days are past.

I sliced across my thumb with the rotary cutter and did not even realize what I had done until I noticed the blood that messed up the very white fabric I was cutting Man did that hurt still have a scar across my thumb. Those rotary cutters are sure sharp so you all take care with them.

I told my near-panicked hubbie that quilters do it all the time. Am I right??

Not yet knock on wood! Hope it heals fast.

Thanks, everyone, for your concern. I just took the wrapping off and my poor finger looks fine - no redness or swelling. I'm going to put antiseptic cream on it and rewrap for a couple of days just to be sure.

I finished the FMQ on the table topper - not quite as fast - and I'll post a pic when I get the binding on it.

I sewed through my finger once. It was a clean in and out of the fingernail and it made me weak in the knees.

I did it once, broke the needle off in my finger, had to go to the Dr. to get it removed. I happen to be doing some charity work at the time.

I did it once in a factory when I was setting collar stays. I got the needle out later with the thread through the eye.

Three weeks ago, I was changing the blade in my rotary cutter. Drop it and it popped up and cut my index finger. Needed stitches but it was late so we butterflied it. I've got a great scar. Felt so stupid. My kids laughed about my "Quilter" injury.
