I Didn't Mean to buy it-Really

Went to the fabric/machine store today to spend a $50 coupon. Made the mistake of asking what used machines they had in. First he showed me the next step up from the Brother that I now have (which has been in the shop for 3 weeks). It was a beautiful machine but at $1200 I'd have to think about it. I then asked again what USED machines he had in. He had a Baby Lock Ellure Plus with embroidery unit for $900. I hadn't even thought about the embroidery part, but since it came with the machine it was a bonus. I tried it out and decided I had to jump at it. Called DH to make sure there was still Christmas money in the account and bought it. I was going to take my old machine back to them for $200 store credit, but DH says for that amount I should just keep it for when I want to take it to a class. I like the way he thinks. It helped that he has been on a buying binge with some of his hobbies lately. I've just about played the Christmas money card for as much as I can since I bought a new bicycle 2 weeks ago.
So, my $50 coupon ended up costing me a little over $1000. Such a deal!!!!

Good for you. I hope you enjoy your new machine. Sounds like you have a great hubby too.

MaryMo 04-02-2012 12:31 PM

You and DH deserve your new toys. Just think how much you will enjoy sewing with your new Baby Lock ... especially Christmas presents!

SouthPStitches 04-02-2012 12:35 PM

You only come this way and as my dear Irish Aunt Ruth used to say "Dear, you need to be good to yourself every now and then". Enjoy

Raggiemom 04-02-2012 01:05 PM

Enjoy! Sometimes these things happen....

Dolphyngyrl 04-02-2012 03:04 PM

Enjoy, I love my babylock!!

sewbeadit 04-02-2012 03:12 PM

That is the way to do it, good for you. I am an enabler because often times I do the same thing.lol Have a great time with your machine, sounds like you got a good machine for a good price.

Phannie1 04-02-2012 03:22 PM

Bargains and good husbands are hard to find. Get them when you find them.

nannyrick 04-02-2012 04:25 PM

You will love Baby Lock and embroidery. Good luck.

Mariposa 04-02-2012 04:26 PM

Enjoy your new-to-you machine! Your hubby is sure a keeper too! :)

MacThayer 04-02-2012 04:36 PM

Good for you! That was a great deal, and you were very right to jump at it, especially since your regular machine was only worth $200 in store credit. Sounds like it was time to spoil yourself with a newer, nicer machine. You'll love it! I don't have a Baby Lock, but I have a high quality machine, and it sure does spoil you to sew on something really nice.

Happy Sewing/Quilting!

Hi,

I have a Babylock Ellure....not the plus that is computer compatible.....but you'll love your new machine!!

I also the Elegante2 Babylock that I do most of my embroidery on, but still use my Ellure when I need to get two projects done at the same time. I mostly use it for classes and sewing at the lake in the summer. Love it still!

Have a blast!

Bev

Sounds good to me after all you used your coupon

Haha! Way to go, good for you! I hope you have many happy hours sewing with your new machine! You will have to talk with my sister about the machine embroidery--that has turned out to be a happy pastime for her. You will have to show me your new machine the next time I am there! Carolyn

quilt3311 04-04-2012 03:04 AM

Good for you, sounds like you found a super bargain.

Anna O 04-04-2012 05:24 AM

Congrats! Enjoy!!

Wintersewer 04-04-2012 11:53 AM

Cool! I have the same type but it's a Trek 7500....I LOVE it! We ride the Erie Canal Trail in CNY and have ridden as far as Lockport in WNY and Utica on the other end. I ride several times a week in the warm weather. Quilting is so sedentary so I need to MOVE when I'm not sewing.

Happy riding!!!!
