I love fabric. My problem isn't fabric stores as much as shopping on line!!! Just hope I am home when UPS gets here before my DH gets home. I do work. And he always likes what I make. He's the one that makes sure I show my projects off to everyone. He even gets down on the floor to move blocks around until they look right to both of us. But my bookcases are full, of fabric.

I just started (the online thing) and find it very addictive....got a catalog from Clotilde and ordered more than I needed but with the free shipping, I couldn't resist. Only thing wrong with that order, I wanted a Christmas tree pattern and thought that I would wait until after the holiday rush...WRONG......they no longer have it. It was a wall hanging and it was very abstract ... really different. Will have to research it and see if I can find it elsewhere. Have a good day...MaryJane |
Your right MJ....it is addictive! I don't live near any fabric stores, so only get to go "real fabric" shopping if we have time to make a Day trip of it. I order on line from a few select shops and then I order the name brands that I'm really comfortable with...So far....no disappointments! So, to stop myself, I just can't go to the web sites

My quilt store is 27 miles from me....there is one closer, (13 miles) if I need it... but I don't tend to go there... After unearthing the amount of fabric I unearthed last night, well... no online shopping (no other type either, LOL  ) |

There's something so entrancing about new fabric on a bolt... in baskets... FQ... Charm Squares... cough.... and when you don't get to a shop very often... you're definitely not a bad person... I blame the fabric. Although I did get the money together to pay off the card before the interest kicked in, I just told my DH, "I don't drink or smoke and never taken drugs... I have to have ONE VICE in my life!" He just smiled, and the money I'd gotten together to pay the credit card... gave it me back and told me to go and get some more fabric!! Wish I'd a known that before-hand... I might have spent a bit more lol! |
That man is a real keeper. You need to make him the fix-it quilt. It has woodworking tools on it and is really cute. I did it for my hubby for Valentine's day. Shhh... It is a secret.

I love buying fabric. Having raised all high maintenance girls DH doesn't even blink when I walk in with arms full of shopping bags. I could buy out a quilt shop with what we have spent on prom and homecoming dresses alone. LOL

DH's job is here so we are here. He will be leaving his job in a couple of years and we will move. I'm more of a beach tourist type. I like a lot going on in a town. DH loves the ocean so we'll be somewhere on the lower East coast soon! Second choice is North AR. This delta area is the pits.

I LOVE fabric, love going to LQS's and LOVE my husband. Just because he's asked me to not spend money on fabric does not mean he does not love me... we just have to be more careful nowadays. I have not purchased fabrics in over a year - except for my stepdaughters' quilts. When I go to WINDOW SHOP with my friends, they just cannot believe I'm not buying anything - not because I don't want that is for sure - just don't have the money for now... one day I'll be able to go again!!:)

It hurts, physically hurts my heart, to hear that one grown adult feels the true need to hide $30 of spending for something that makes her happy from another grown adult who is supposed to be a partner, not a parent or a jailer. I also think we may toss about the word "addiction" lightly, when really we are not talking about something destructive; we use it for its drama, for its heightened sense of meaning, but I don't think most of us are discussing an actual addiction, just a pleasure, a hobby, an avocation. I'm sorry if I've offended, but it is one of my pet peeves.(Don't get me started on men being asked to babysit their own children!!) Just my 2 cents...no hurt feelings Chase |
