This looks like a moda marble fabric............if it is, and you have the selvage with the color number on it, you can contact web fabrics (www.webfabrics.net) as they carry the complete line of moda marbles - and would have this ....I found a dark red Moda Marble that I had purchased at a quilt show years ago at their shop, when I needed an additional 3/4 yard to finish a quilt...........Hope this helps!

A lady who teaches quilting told me long ago that diagonal seams in a border are much nicer and less noticeable up to a point. She teaches her students to make a diagonal seam in a border when they are 3"- 3 1/2" wide or less, but on the wider borders, a diagonal seam is as noticeable as a straight seam.

*I* prefer borders without seams...diagonal or straight...that's what *I* prefer. If I need really long pieces, I purchase fabric for that length.

I made from a 'kit' that contained a center panel and fabrics for the borders. There was not enough fabric for my 'one piece' borders so I took the other scraps and placed them in the center of the borders.

You could use just the plain fabrics or make simple blocks.

I have done both kinds of seams in my borders. After it is quilted and washed, it barely shows. Go for it and continue with your quilt. Good luck!
