I like thread basting best, though I usually pin small projects. I use straight pins for applique.

What kind and length needle do you use to baste? The darners are the longest I could find.

I have never tried it!

I have tried it and not crazy about it.. Like every one says it makes a mess.. and layers do not hold together real well..

My knees have given me trouble ever since I crawled around and pinned my quilt. They hurt all the time. Climbing the stairs is painful and I'm only 50! I am going to try to spray baste my next quilt in the garage. My husband should be able to rig a wall for me to work on. I'm willing to give it a try.

I don't mind thread basting for hand quilting and pin for machine. Don't do huge quilts on machine.

From your area in Wi. I don't like the spray baste although I have used it a few times. An expensive spray as well. I use Aqua Net hairspray on my smaller projects and works pretty well. I also put in a few safey pins along the edges as extra security. Do you know of any good quilt shops in the fox valley area?
