I use a heavy and stiff "batting" called Decor Bond. it gives the bags more body.

I usually make a pocketbook from a pair of jeans or a jeans skirt. I have made enough of them to have one for every holiday.

This one is lovely.

Personally I prefer potholders, there a lot more useful. Handbags are something I think sometimes to just show off. Depends on the person. I have a cousin that would be a show off with one that is why I say this. If it's expensive she has to have one. Mine come from Goodwill for 1 or 2 dollars.

The reason I like any cloth purse, is that it is light weight and b/c I made it, it is cheap so when I get tired of it, file 13!

I am in your corner on this one. I made one and found the directions were terrible. I did make 3 totes that were beautiful and sold one for $75.00. One went to my DN, she is a school teacher, she love it.

I agree completely! For me, it's the DP9 pattern... But I still like to look at the ones other folks have done.

What is the DP9 pattern?

I think they're pretty with the right fabrics. I don't have one for myself, but have made 4 or 5 for others and a silent auction item for our quilt show.
