Well, for this being April 1, this is not an April fool's joke. I finally hit a good day at the thrift store. First I found about 25 yards of material, averaging $1 a yard, then after wandering through the rest of the store, I found the pair of drawer units-to store the fabric in, and then as I am getting ready to check out, I found a pail of spools of thread. Does that take care of my needs or what? Just had to share that I got lucky today.

No, not really, because I was looking for some special material to work on my granddaughter's graduation quilt, so off to the LQS and found and bought my first group of batiks. I have always admired the quilts on here made with batiks, and now I am getting brave enough to try it. I plan on doing the 10 minute block, with purple base and cream center, and then roll the edges for the faux cathedral windows, and fill them in with the other 4 colors. Wish me luck. I have to have it done by next Christmas for 2012 graduation.

spartan quilter 04-02-2011 05:45 AM

Here is the site that I went to. http://www.thriftyideastoday.com/201...6-12-inch.html I found it on a post from Carolaug and when you go there, scroll to below the picture and click on 'a spinoff from the 10 minute block'

Hope that you can find it. If not, you can also type in the 'search' WIP 10 minute block and scroll to the bottom of the first page and find the link from Carolaug. LQS, I think, stands for ladies quilt shop or store. Anyways, that is what I make it stand for.
