Great string quilt...I’m happy to hear that you jumped into something new and got to learn different techniques. I’m sure it was a fun challenge.

Really like your quilt. I had never thought about using a inner border that way, great idea:)

You did well. Those string quilts can be very aggravating.

I also would like to know the 8 things? Nice looking quilt...

The 8 things are: #1 String blocks using a paper foundations. #2. String blocks using a cloth foundation, #2 Using glue to baste the sandwich together. #4 Using decorative stitches to set off the blocks. (this was a bit tricky), #5 QAUG with fold over, #6, FMQ, #7 using stencils laid over blocks with paper patterns over each area, #8 fold over and machine stitched binding. ( I will go back to hand stitching on the finish I did not like this at all). Most of these things I became comfortable doing and will do again a couple I most likely will let them fall by the wayside.

Your string quilt turned out really pretty. I have made several QAYG.

I like to do the fold over and machine stitch on the binding of charity quilts. It's fast and easy, and if you fold the back over and tuck it under the batt, you have two layers on the fold. Saves fabric, too. |
