I found out something I didn't know!
That interfacing is a fabric and I lost out buying some with that 60% off coupon from last week and I need alot of it!
Oh, so sorry for you. Batting is a coupon fabric, too.
We may think of interfacing and batting as types of fabric, but my local JoAnn's has signs up that say batting is NOT a fabric for the purpose of coupons. I don't know how they define interfacing.
At my Joann's batting is not considered fabric when it comes to using a coupon.
It must be up to the individual JoAnn's stores. That's how I always buy my Warm & Natural off the roll with the fabric coupon.
I'm not talking about batting in the bags. |
I agree, it must be individual stores, also for the 60% coupon they are very picky :(
I can save $100-$200 by using coupons and buying the large rolls. have even arrived after all was sold and they let me order it using coupon. I buy full rolls only, does that make a diffrence? Thankfully I have room to store it.
I buy both the batting in the bag and on the roll in all of the Jo-anns with the % off coupons. I will not be going to buy anything at Jo-Anns if they stop letting me use the coupons for this and interfacing ....
When I worked at JoAnn's, interfacing was a notion. I think batting has its own listing. I wish they hadn't closed our JoAnn's now it 50 miles one way. :(
hmm interesting-when I worked at JoAnn's interfacing wasn't considered a notion, must have been an individual store thing.
I used my 60% on interfacing and another for 45"home dec fabric. |
I got in on that Thurs. also. I asked at the cutting counter and couldn't believe when, I think she is the store manager, scanned the interfacing and went to the cash register and rang it up to see what happened. She came back and said yes it works with the coupon. I wasn't planning on that purchase that day, but couldn't let the coupon go to waste.
I get confused as to when "quilting notions are not "notions" although some of the same items are displayed in both Notions and Quilting at Hancocks. Makes no sense! I tell the clerk it makes no sense and they usually accept the coupon. It sure makes shopping harder when you don't know what is coupon related and what is not until you get to checkout.
I plan to go to Hancocks for their Labor Day Sale as Joanns is 35 minutes away! Hmmm, wonder if Hancocks will honor Joanne's coupons?????? |
Some of the coupons say that they are for fabric only, while others say that they can be used for any item.
Batting is not a fabric at the JoAnns in Daytona Beach, at least not the batting in a bag. But the 40% off works.
When I worked at a JoAnn's, batting was considered with foam and fiber, and interfacing was its own catagory and on sale separately. A fabric coupon could be used on the by the yard interfacing, but not b. t. y. batting. It is supposed to be nationwide standards, but the company changes its guidelines and specifics all the time, and sometimes the part time employees don't keep up on all the changes.
OUR Joans won't use coupons for batting...or interfacing...and if you buy a whole bolt of cloth they even trim off the end that was on the bolt to make sure you don't get that extra half inch on one side that makes the end a bit crooked! Talk about customer courtesy! I'm sure glad we have a well stocked Hancocks nearby!

When I was there the interfacing was on sale for 50 percent off so no coupon was good for it but hey, 50 percent off was great! But I also used my 60 percent off on the dragon fabric.
I also had 60% off batting dreams when I went to Joann's last week. However batting had conveniently gone on sale for 40% off that very morning.
Bummer. |
It depends on how the coupon is worded. JoAnn's has one the is for one item, that's probably the one you can use for batting. Hancock's is for fabric. However they are having a Labor Day sale, batting is on sale for 50% off, today and tomorrow.
Yes you can use JoAnn's coupons.

Just a reminder....Joanns takes competetor coupons...sign up for Hobby Lobby and Michaels coupons (no fabric coupons from Michaels) online
I do miss my J-A, from Texas to Ok, No Joanns. Sad shopper. Jo lol
thanks for the insight....I never in all the years I have shopped at JoAnn's thought of either interfacing or batting as a fabric and therefore use the coupon for it.....now I am wiser and hopefully a bit richer...let's see how my local store handles it..........
Most everything I wanted to use my 60% coupon for was on sale. Getting pretty disgusted with Joanne's games.

I try to use coupons at Joann for batting and they refuse it every time, they keep saying it is not a fabric item, I think that is lame, it is a fabric item, to me any how.

I had one of those 60% off coupons too, but seems like everything in the store was on sale for 40% off, so I couldn't use the 60% coupon. I kinda felt like it was a come on too. Seems like they could let you use it and get an extra 20% off to total the 60 %.
I thought anything that had to be cut counted. I used a 50% coupon for fusible fleece a while back.
My Joann's had home dec on sale so I couldn't use the coupon. They told me that utility fabric was not on sale and I could purchase ironing board cover fabric, I said whoopee, no thanks.
Depends on the specific coupon

I work at Hancock's & we can take a fabric coupon for "by the yard" interfacing...& a notions coupon for packaged interfacing. Hancock's doesn't consider batting a fabric though.
As for special orders, if it's a fabric that we stock in the store...no shipping charge. It's called a warehouse order. But if it's a home dec fabric ordered from our swatches, then it's a dropship order & there is a shipping charge...& it's delivered to the store (not your home), too. |
I took my 50% coupon in yesterday to use - it did say 50% off fabric - and in small print, it also stated "50% off cut by the yard MERCHANDISE. To me - merchandise encompasses trim, interfacing, batting - anything cut by the yard.
First the cashier didn't know if the coupon would even come off because the trim and fabric were on the same ticket from the cutting counter - I'm thinking "make it work" and kinda grumpy inside....remembering why I don't shop JoAnn's very often. The cashier looked at the coupon and said "OH, it says fabric, this isn't fabric". Then I told her it said cut by the yard merchandise, and this was cut by the yard mdse. The mgr did come over and give me the discount and gave be the spiel that I was a loyal customer blah blah blah... While standing there - another lady brought flowers up - They were Buy 2 flowers, get 1 free - but her "free" flower wasn't the "right" one. Sales clerks must do a better job of setting up the sales and separating non-sale mdse far far away from sale mdse. |
I always use my "60% off one cut of fabric" coupons for batting on the roll at my JoAnns and I don't buy a full roll. But lately, they have been having 40% off coupons for batting on the roll. Rats!!! Usually 10 yards lasts me a year or so.

I'm trying to think of a comment that can be printed here-------------I'll just let it go with a cyber shrug! |
At our Joann's anything that is bagged or prior cut sure as fat quarters is not considered fabric. I was going to use the 60% off on batting, but it was already on sale at 40% off. It always seems like what I want or need is already on sale so the big % coupons are almost worthless. Did get to use them on some material, but had nothing I needed a large amount of.
